Woman X-rayed rescue dog as part of routine check — ends up crying after vet points out something chilling from the past lodged inside
A pet might have stories from their past that their current owners have no way of knowing. However, a woman was completely shocked when she took her pitbull for an X-ray. The dog had lived with a different owner before the woman adopted her. So she had no idea what her "sweet" dog had been through in the past. She shared her shock with the internet through a video on TikTok, where she goes by @some_palindrome. The brief clip received over 329,900 views.
The woman was traveling with her dog in her car as she revealed what she had found. "My sweet baby angel dog had to get X-rays today and they told me they found an old bullet in her," the text overlay of the video read. The dog looked okay and even happy, while the owner was pretty sad to think about what might have happened to her. The caption read, "This was not on my bingo card." She was also really sad because she couldn't think of anything her dog would have done to go through something like this. In one of the comments, she revealed, "She is now an office dog and my patients cry if she isn't there. That's how much she helps humans."

An X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, or MRI is the most common way for pet owners to find out about any bullet wounds their pets might have suffered in the past, per VCA Animal Hospitals. A doctor might choose to run further tests based on the results. A pet could also need to be put under general anesthesia to examine, disinfect, or treat the wounds, per the outlet. They might need an antibiotic treatment depending on the state of the wound. People shared their own similar experiences and reassured the owner in the comments section of the video.
@lostlatitude wrote, "I rescued a Great Pyr from an abusive home on a farm. A few years later, when he got an X-ray, they found over 100 BB pellets still inside him. They were using him as target practice…" @druangelo commented, "Lady pitbulls are really unstoppable, my lady pitbull has been hit by a car, had pyo, cancer twice and she's still kicking. My grandpa says she's 'unkillable.' They are badasses! Wishing the best for your baby." @soph.dino remarked, "I hate how often we see this, especially in rescues. One of my coworkers' dogs had a bullet in his face that we accidentally found years later on X-ray. No wonder he was stranger aggressive, I would be too."
@lisakatherine592 shared, "This happened with a dog I adopted, too. He was full of birdshot, dozens of them. He was the kindest, most sensitive and gentle boy. Never even growled at another human. Makes me furious." @drewking932 expressed, "When I rescued Charlie, she had scars on her back legs. The cats at her last owner's house didn’t like her. She's not so nervous anymore." @elissaspeaks pointed out, "I remember taking one of our rescues in TN to the vet many years ago for a sinus issue. Long story short, we found a ton of shrapnel." In another video, the woman shared her pitbull's life as an office dog.
