47-yr-old suffering from unbearable abdominal pain rushes to hospital—hours later, she gave birth to 8-pound baby

A woman’s body goes through so many changes for so many different reasons. Pregnancy is one of these phases but many moms get through the symptoms, hoping to welcome their baby with joy. A woman named Judy Brown was happy to have a child but was trusting fate with it, WCVB reported. At the age of 47, she started having strange abdominal pains, along with different symptoms. At first, she never guessed what it could be but the diagnosis shocked her and her husband, Jason. The couple welcomed an 8-pound baby and their feelings, confusion and experience through it all are uniquely wholesome.

The Cleveland Clinic noted that women usually learn that they’re pregnant between the first four and 12 weeks of pregnancy. This can be due to various symptoms. However, there are cases where the person can be completely aloof from the idea that they’re pregnant. There are cases where the mom has no idea she has a baby inside of her until labor begins. Known as a cryptic pregnancy, it is an uncommon phenomenon. 1 in 475 pregnancies are not realized until 20 weeks. A rare number of 1 in 2,500 pregnancies go unnoticed until the time of delivery. There are several common reasons for women to not be able to detect a cryptic pregnancy.

Things like having given birth recently, PCOS, perimenopause and several other factors bring similar changes to a woman’s body. This can push them away from the assumption that they’re pregnant and the realization comes only much later when symptoms get more significant and visible. In Judy’s case, she thought menopause was behind all the symptoms she had been experiencing. She initially thought it was because of her age and the natural hormonal transitions.

When she started to see her belly bulge, even then, she thought it was just old age or weight gain. "I felt like I was turning into my mother," she said. "This wasn't like regular weight. When you're gaining weight, it's normally flat and soft. This was hard and we're like it's just kind of weird but we didn't think anything of it then,” Jason recalled, per Inside Edition. As time passed, one day, the woman started to feel a sharp abdominal pain. She was rushed to the hospital, where she received news she didn’t expect. The doctors told her that the pain was not a cause for worry but was actually good news.

"(The doctors said,) ‘There's no blockage, you are pregnant and you are going to have her now!'" she remarked. After an hour in the delivery room, Judy gave birth to 8-pound Carolyn Rose and though unprepared, the couple has already welcomed her with a full heart. The new mom noted that the newborn has already grown attached to the dad. "When she cries, I am there," Jason said. While there is a lot to be planned and done, family and friends are coming together with bassinets, strollers, supplies and all the support they might need at this new venture of life.
