Height has often been a topic of discussion when it comes to dating. While many believe that most women are only interested in dating taller men, Jovana’s experience dating a man shorter than her comes with a heartwarming twist.

Instagram content creator Jovana, who goes by the username @hola_jovana, received a comment from one of her followers, who appeared to throw a jab at her. The comment read, "Looks odd to me, but I'll get over my issues." Jovana decided to hit back at the comment by sharing a story that dates back to her college days. The content creator, who is 6'4" tall, was once approached by a man who was 5'8". The man confidently approached her and quipped, "You're my girlfriend, you just don't know it yet." Jovana, who was surprised, told him that the shortest person she would prefer is a 6'1" tall man. "I said the shortest I would go is 6'1, so you don't make the cut." But he took it as a good gesture, and they soon began talking more.

As they grew closer, Jovana realized that the man was not just great-looking and funny, but he also had "layers to him." She said, "He is so masculine and he's such a gentleman." Two weeks later, he told her that he was no longer interested in continuing their conversations. He added that if she wanted to be his girlfriend, she needed to say so immediately; otherwise, they would walk away then and there and never speak again. Keeping the heartwarming twist at the end, Jovana reveals that she went on to marry the same man, and they have been happily married for 13 years with two kids.

Jovana then says that to her, the term "short king" is not about height, but the energy they project. In a study co-authored by Abraham P. Buunk, Robert Kurzban, and Simon Verhulst in 2013 titled Animal Behaviour published in Science Direct, it was revealed that women were most likely to choose a speed-dater 25 cm taller than themselves, while men were most likely to choose women only 7 cm shorter than themselves. This led to matches occurring at an intermediate height difference of 19 cm, differing from the preferred height differences of both sexes.

Soon after Jovana's video went viral, many online users expressed their thoughts on it. @mariaof94 commented, "As a tall girlie, I only care about two things: how you treat me, and how you treat others."

@c.clearly commented, "As a 6’0" tall woman, I love that the men who approach me are actually secure in their masculinity <3 feminist kingsss." @sadie_bucket commented, "I’m 6’2” and my husband is 5’6”! 18 wonderful years together and a million to go! Height doesn’t matter! Short kings rule!"
