Parenting is unique to everyone. Every parent tries their best to raise their child as well as they can. Most parenting techniques are learned through external factors or experiences. Older generations, for example, were not best with empathy, emotional quotient and similar aspects. Thus, when a fragile situation arises, they’re not sure how to communicate, but they find a way through. Occupational therapist Jacqueline Rose (@jac.rose8) shared that her boomer dad too, came up with something adorable to comfort her.

The woman revealed that her husband had just informed her that he’d be divorcing her. As blatant and hard as the news was, Rose didn’t know how to react and was undoubtedly heartbroken. She mentioned she was laying in bed, completely “dysfunctional,” feeling too empty to do anything. Her dad came up with a way to make things better. The boomer dad didn’t have much of an idea about what to do and how to respond to his adult daughter. Given the delicate situation and timing of events, he wasn’t sure what could help her feel better. Nevertheless, he ensured he did his best.

The man entered his daughter’s room and casually began to play Dua Lipa’s “Rocket Man.” Recalling the scenario wholesomely, Rose wrote, “Boomer dad didn’t know what to do, so he played his favorite song, the Dua Lipa ‘Rocket Man’ remix.” The dad just played the song and began grooving to this, presumably as he always does. He didn’t say anything to his daughter, nor did he mention the scenario. Instead, he innocently began talking to his daughter and describing his thoughts on the song.

None of it was relevant to her situation, but he stayed there talking to her, and that was all she needed. However, his presence and effort were more than enough to make Rose feel his overwhelming love and support. The dad might have felt awkward to bring up the situation and barely looked at his daughter. But he definitely conveyed the message that he was right there for her, should she need him. Somehow, the trick worked just right with the love and raw emotion and simply the want to help and comfort his daughter.

It wasn’t just a song playing but a father’s support blasting through his phone. Rose felt so much better with the mere gesture. Rose added in a comment, “He didn’t know what to say but he was there and helped me in such a sweet way. He’s the best.” Several people appreciated the dad’s effort and could see beyond the awkwardness. They applauded him for trying to help and mentioned that it was all that people need sometimes. @natkat1738 wrote, "I love dads. He did what he could to be there for you!" @ashelyspica added, "It's so sweet that he didn't pressure you to talk and was just there for you."
