Bride feared walking the aisle without dad who abandoned her—until her 79-year-old landlord stepped in to heal her heart
Many brides wish that things would go a certain way on their wedding day. However, a woman's dad had abandoned her as a baby and she couldn't think of how walking down the aisle would work for her. At first, the bride, Shacole Fox, didn't think much of walking down the aisle with her dad and felt that she wouldn't really miss his presence. Fox didn't know anything about her dad her whole life. But she started feeling upset as her wedding day drew closer. Little did she know that her landlord would step in and change things, per CBS News.
Fox worked as a makeup artist in Cincinnati, Ohio and ran a rented studio space. She was about to get married and hadn't thought of who was going to walk her down the aisle. The woman had never met her dad and didn't think it was a huge deal until her big day started approaching. She was overcome with sadness at the thought of not having a father figure at her side during her milestone moment. "When I thought about who would walk me down the aisle, trying to figure out what that looks like, the thought of it was like…surprisingly painful," Fox told the outlet. The man who owned her makeup studio's space, 79-year-old Gil Pulliam, was nowhere on the list of people who might do the ritual for her.
On the other hand, Pulliam knew about Fox's family dynamics, but had no idea how she had been feeling. So he also didn't know how much his one gesture would mean to her. "So I went back up to ask Shacole if I could escort her down the aisle. And she said, 'Yes, yes, yes!' And on and on and on," the man recalled. Fox had never expected such a sweet thing to happen. "I wouldn't have thought in a million years." The woman was really grateful for her landlord, who helped her heal on her wedding day. "The music is playing — and I'm getting ready to walk down the aisle — and he grabbed my hand so tight. And it was a really good feeling…Yeah, it still is. Like a wound had been healed in my heart."

Many children might have feelings of blame and emptiness after such an event. The presence of other father-figures in the family or mentors in the community can significantly help a child in such a scenario.
