Couple in their 90s reveal the one life skill they feel younger generations need to learn for a better tomorrow
With time, so many things have changed for the many generations. Looking back, there’s not much that is still the same as it used to be. Whether work, life, relationships or even living, all of it has drastically changed for the newer generations. However, getting a glimpse into the past or even being able to tap into the wisdom of previous generations is golden. A man named William Rossy, who goes by @sprouht on Instagram, talked with an elderly couple about the same. The man had a wholesome conversation with the duo to receive some of the most apt and heartwarming advice for the present times.
Rossy met the duo on the street and began to interview them. He engaged in a light-hearted conversation to get to know the couple. “How old are you?” he asked the elderly man. “How old do you think I am?” the man sweetly reverted the question. While Rossy looked at him and noted that he couldn’t be over 85 years old, the man shocked him. They revealed that the husband was 95 and his wife was 89 years old. Rossy continued to talk with the couple and asked them what it felt like to be at that age. The couple, most adorably holding hands, said they felt great.
The 95-year-old confidently said, “We don’t feel 95 and 89.” He mentioned that most often, they are privileged to feel enthusiastic and healthy. He even added that he was glad to be with his wife out in the sun, able to take a walk even at his age. The couple’s smile pointed out how filled their hearts were with gratitude. Inspired by the duo’s charm, Rossy asked them a few more questions. “If you look at the people in their 20s today, is there something you don’t like about them?” he asked. The older woman, with much poise and empathy, said, “Everything is a lot more difficult today for younger people.”
Adding to her words, her husband mentioned that a lot has changed. “I don’t think people are as concerned as we were about the future,” he remarked. The couple agreed that most youngsters today do not have a future-oriented approach and just go all out in the present. “I don’t think they care, they just spend,” she said. Listening intently, Rossy asked the couple if they could spare some advice for their younger selves and they had a heartwarming response. “Try to be as positive as you can because tomorrow can be a better day unless you make it worse,” he said. This one statement was enough to motivate and encourage many.
Towards the end, the man also asked the duo if they had anything they cherished all these years. “One another,” the elderly man responded, gazing lovingly at his wife. “One another,” she added. Each response given by the couple offered valuable insight for the current generation. @angouanecoaching wrote, "How he kept holding her hand close to his heart while talking is beyond beauty… this is everything!" @marzymarzy1994 added, "The first time an old person saying something true about our generation for once. Protect these people at all costs." @rose_ella_b exclaimed, "Best thing I’ve seen in a while."
