Dad was out having breakfast with kids—when he asked for the check, server handed him a note that left him teary-eyed

Doing random acts of kindness that are inspired by something special is more profound than one will ever know. It leaves a soothing feeling in the sender’s heart and for the receiver, it is a bright and beaming excitement to cherish. A dad who goes by u/OmarGooding on Reddit was moved to tears when a stranger rendered this act of kindness for him and his kids. The dad was out having breakfast with his kids as a regular tradition. When he asked the server for the check, she instead handed him a handwritten note with one of the sweetest messages about an even sweeter gesture.

The dad explained, “My kids and I go out to breakfast weekly. It’s special to me and I love to do it.” He added that the simple act reminds him of his time with his father when he was a child. Being of much symbolic importance, the dad undoubtedly makes the experience and the conversations special and memorable. “Most of the time, it’s me and the kids. It’s our weekly thing,” he explained. However, one day, he experienced something unusually precious. “We were at our normal spot for a normal breakfast. We asked for the check and instead, we got this,” he said, sharing a picture of the note.

It read, “For my daughter’s birthday, we are doing random acts of kindness.” It was further mentioned that the little girl’s dad “left,” and so they wanted to do something special for a parent. The person possibly noticed the dad with his kids and decided that he would become the recipient of this special act. “We picked you for being out with your baby. Enjoy!” the note concluded. The dad and his kids’ meal had been paid off due to this simple yet amazing act of kindness. “Made my eyes well up a bit,” the dad wrote. He was inspired by the gesture and made an even more delightful decision that morning. “We spent the rest of the day paying forward,” he said.

In a comment, the man mentioned how such random happenings make a profound difference. “Personally, I struggle with feeling grateful for things. Sometimes, I think it’s because life is too busy to stop and take it in for even a second. Sometimes, I’m not even sure I remember how to be grateful,” he honestly confessed. He then credited kindness like that exercised by the stranger and how it is uplifting. “Then. Something like this happens and reminds me that we’re all (most of us) just normal schmucks out here trying our best. We’re just people," he wrote.
Concluding, the man remarked, Now, we’re grateful to be in a position to replay this small act of generosity once a month." People were touched by the mindset and the love this stranger had to render. u/PoseyPark wrote, “How sweet! These acts really do make it easier to catch the kindness bug and want to spread it.” u/RedProscheKilla added, “ This is what doing a great thing is all about!” u/BJintheRV remarked, “This whole post and all the comments is one I'm saving for when I really need to be reminded just how good people are.”
