Delivery van blocked the street for 25 minutes — so a commuter used '$1,800 cash' bait to make the driver waste his own time
Inconveniences are inevitable, but when the person causing the problem acts entitled, the only satisfying response is to teach them a lesson. A delivery driver recently stopped traffic after leaving his vehicle in a single driving lane during work, blocking the street for about 25 minutes. In a post shared on Thursday, May 14, 2026, by Reddit user (u/ELHOMBREGATO), a commuter described how this moment later led to a planned response involving a reported $1,800, which, in his view, made the driver reflect on the value of time in a brilliant manner.
Delivery driver blocks city street for 25 minutes during rush hour - he returns to get the money he was told he dropped, waits 25 minutes just to be told there was no such money

The commuter was on the bus, which was stalled due to the delivery driver's negligence. He noted the truck details and first thought of reporting the incident to the company. Instead, he contacted headquarters and, in a "kind old man's voice," said that he had seen a driver drop about $1800 in cash. Eventually, the same driver was contacted, and when he learned there was real money involved, he made the 30-45-minute drive. However, there was no cash involved; it was just the commuter's attempt to teach him a lesson. He asked him to come to a recreational center and gave him a taste of his own medicine. He made him wait for the first 25 minutes, texting him with excuses. It was only after he was satisfied with his wait that the situation was later explained to the driver.
The driver arrived at a community center near the man's street, expecting to collect the reported cash. During the wait, he was told the commuter would be back soon. The driver kept getting frustrated by the minute and texted him, only to receive excuses and apologies. After some waiting, the driver was asked to come inside the recreation center to finish the handover. Instead of a clear meeting, he kept moving between locations, as the meeting was just being delayed. Finally, the man called the driver and directly referenced the earlier road incident, saying, "Sorry, man, I know waiting sucks. Remember that delivery you made on ____ Street on Monday? Well, I was on the bus that had to wait for you. Now you just waited for money that was never real," he said.
The driver was undoubtedly furious, but he also got a good sense of the value of time. The commuter explained that while the wait that day was already annoying, the entitled man also defended his right to park in a driving lane by saying that "he's allowed because he's making a delivery." Given this attitude, the stranger knew he had to teach him a lesson and devised it smartly. “The last few days I have called him from a hotel lobby guest phone just to tell him/leave a voicemail that he should never block the street," he added. Blocking someone’s way can be extremely annoying, especially when it causes delays in one’s plans. Commenters appreciated his genius comeback. u/Nanerpoodin wrote, "Damn, this is a clever way to get back at someone." u/randcandc61 added, "The revenge is strong with this one." u/Firebird562 remarked, "Oh, this was so much fun to read."
