Difficult customers tried to dine and dash on a $200 restaurant bill — but one costly mistake forced them to return for something they'd left behind
Restaurant workers have to deal with a few annoying customers who make their job difficult. One server named Paweenieee faced a tense situation when a couple arrived with their young son and kept asking for extra items throughout their meal. Although she tried to serve them like any other table, their requests raised concerns. When it was time to pay, the family asked for several extra items, which left her suspicious that they might leave without settling their bill. Her concerns proved justified when she returned to the booth and found it empty. The incident was later shared in a TikTok video under her handle @paweenieee on October 16, 2026.

The bill was over $200, and the server immediately informed her manager that the couple appeared to have left without paying. While cleaning their booth, she found something that could bring them back: their car keys. When the couple's son returned to ask about them, the manager explained that the keys would be returned after the bill was paid. The parents then tried several ways to get them back, shouting through the restaurant windows and calling with a polite request before becoming angry on the phone. The staff refused to hand over the keys without payment, while other diners watched the commotion unfold.

The situation continued for about an hour before the woman finally returned to the restaurant in tears. She told the manager that her husband had refused to pay, hit her, and damaged her windshield, leaving her with only $40. Difficult situations can be complicated, but a customer's behavior toward staff can affect how willing others are to help. The manager accepted the $40 she had and told the family they could no longer dine there. The server admitted that she might have felt more sympathy if the woman had treated her kindly earlier. Instead, the repeated demands and angry outbursts had left her frustrated with the entire experience. The incident showed how a restaurant visit can turn into a major dispute when customers leave without paying.

Sadly, servers have to deal with all kinds of difficult customers while trying to do their jobs. In another incident, a waiter struggled to keep up with a customer's repeated demands during dinner. The man asked for several drinks, extra silverware and sauces, and even wanted the waiter to explain items listed clearly on the menu. He also complained when his date's food arrived before his own. Despite handling each request, the waiter faced another unpleasant surprise when the bill arrived, leaving him disappointed after putting in so much effort.

The bill came to $148, but the customer questioned the meaning of "gratuity" before telling the waiter, "Okay, well, I'm going to give you zero." The man and his date then left without leaving a tip. Around five to ten minutes later, he returned to ask whether the waiter had seen his missing key. The waiter was busy during the dinner rush and did not stop working to search for it. After dealing with the customer's demands and receiving no tip, he felt there was little reason to go out of his way again.
