Server thought an eight-person table was difficult enough after demanding food not on the menu — then the bill revealed an even worse surprise
A busy restaurant shift can test a server’s patience, especially when one table seems to have a problem with almost everything. According to a report dated August 27, 2026, by We Got This Covered (WGTC), a New York waitress knew it was going to be a long night while managing a table of eight after one diner repeatedly asked for items that weren’t even on the menu. The server who goes by MAD-LEN, under her handle @notenoughfreckles on TikTok, recounted the experience in a video posted August 25, 2026, calling the group one of her worst tables because the food complaints were only the beginning of a far more bizarre encounter.
The trouble began almost as soon as the party sat down. While the waitress was serving water, one woman said the table was ready to order. She ordered a cheeseburger for one of the children and then asked about the sides. When she requested fries, the worker explained that the restaurant didn’t serve them and offered alternatives including a bowl of chips, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. Despite the explanation, the diner continued asking for fries. They continued this behavior throughout the evening, and when the bill arrived, they pulled one last move that left the server speechless. When she returned with the check, the entitled woman and her husband had already left. Not only were they being difficult, but they were not even paying for the meal.
The entitlement was shocking because the woman displayed a series of grievances during the single dinner. After the fries fiasco, she ordered an Arnold Palmer with unsweetened tea. When the drink arrived, she complained that it was still too sweet. Later, she ordered a dip-and-chips appetizer, but as soon as the waitress laid it down, she had a problem with where it was kept since another guest at the table wouldn’t eat it. The server then moved the appetizer in front of her, but the woman pushed it away, saying it wasn’t all for her. The worker joked that if the diner was going to police the food, she could deal with the dish herself.
The server was asked about the children’s food, although it had been minutes since they ordered. After the meals were set, she again asked if they needed anything, and they refused, only to get up moments later and grab the condiments. They did all of that, and weren't even the ones paying. Attendants can usually handle a demanding table, but some customers keep raising the stakes. In another incident, a diner ordered a breakfast sandwich and didn't request any modifications. When the dish arrived, he refused to eat it. He later complained that the sandwich had bread. He further argued that other restaurants served these items in lettuce, and the outlet should have specified that they use bread. The server took his advice, and as their petty revenge, updated the menu to read, “SERVED BETWEEN TWO SLICES OF ACTUAL BREAD.” [sic].
