When interactions happen only once, it's easy to make assumptions after a misunderstanding. One DoorDash driver, who goes by u/ArmAndHammer40k on Reddit, thought a customer was just heartless for tricking him into redelivering after a restaurant error. In the post shared on Saturday, September 26, 2026, he mentioned that she promised to tip $10 if he brought the missing item. However, on delivery, he received nothing for his extra effort. Later, he saw a Facebook post that revealed what he didn’t know about the situation.

Ten minutes after the initial delivery, the woman reached out to the driver, asking if he would pick up the missing item and deliver it to her, promising to tip $10. He agreed and handed over the bag, but received no tip. He thought he had been fooled. However, he then saw a Facebook post in a local group from the same person. She mentioned his name and urged people to help find him so she could give him the tip. He later discovered that she had tried to add the $10, but it repeatedly showed an error. Finally, after he contacted her, she sent him $15. The driver appreciated the customer’s honesty and transparency.

The DoorDash driver delivered a McDonald’s order and later received a message from the customer, saying that the Big Mac was missing. He told her that bags from the restaurant were pre-sealed, so he was unable to check or interfere with the items. On speaking with the outlet, she learned that they had kept the burger in another bag and had forgotten to hand it over to the worker.

She respected his effort to make the trip back to the restaurant and deliver the missing item so she could get her complete meal. It would have been easy to ignore giving the few extra dollars after the error, but she was determined to give him what he deserved. Many commenters said they had also experienced problems adding an additional tip. u/Basic-Importance-680 wrote, “I know when I would be the one to order I have a hard time adding additional tips. Glad the customer got in touch with you.” u/JakBos23 remarked, “That's happened to me a few times. The app not letting me get an additional tip part.” u/sachavicca said, “It’s nice to know there are still nice people out and about.”

A little extra money can go a long way when a customer wants to acknowledge someone's patience and effort. In another story, a customer walked in for breakfast at a café. She was so busy on her phone when she sat down that she didn’t even realize the waitress had set up her table and was ready to take her order. She didn’t even look up or greet the server and asked for regular items while she was engrossed in her phone.

The worker politely waited until she finished. After noticing the silence, the woman got off her phone and realized what she had done. “I had been rude. I hadn’t acknowledged her. Not as a person. Not even with basic respect,” she remarked. She kept this error in mind, and when the $7 bill arrived, she tipped $60. She explained that the tip was not just for her service but also for the way her patience taught her a lesson.
