The last goodbye is often the hardest one. Knowing you won’t be able to see your loved one again rips the heart in so many ways. Alexandra Blumenfeld (@alexblumy) and her family were ready to bid their dog, Brinkley, goodbye after they decided to put him down, as reported by Newsweek. The 11-year-old dog had been struggling with a terminal cancer diagnosis and to end his suffering, it was decided that he be put down. When the family gathered around the canine to make their tearful last words to him, something unbelievable happened. The family was stunned at what they experienced and it changed the entire course of action.

The woman revealed in the comments of one of her videos that Brinkley had a terminal cancer diagnosis for a year. The dog’s condition began to decline rapidly over the weeks. He had exhaustion, heavy breathing and other symptoms. Through a vet scan of the canine, it was determined that the canine had internal bleeding and appeared to have a tumor, too. The vet cautioned the family that their pet might not have much time left. Since the family didn’t wish to burden their pet with more trouble, they decided to let him go. "That's when my parents called us home and said we should come say goodbye," Blumenfeld recalled.

When the kids arrived, they found their beloved Brinkley in a heartbreaking condition. They decided that he should be put down so he doesn’t have to struggle anymore. However, this decision was easier said than done. "We couldn't bring ourselves to do it there because he hates the vet and didn't even want to go into the building. We didn't want that to be his last memory,” the woman remarked. Over time, they pondered their decision and eventually called for a home appointment. As the family dreaded the final day, they said their devastating goodbyes.

One can’t fathom how gut-wrenching it must have been. They didn’t want to leave his side and spent the day surrounding Brinkley. Somehow, that made a miraculous difference. As the day went on, the family was taken aback to see their 11-year-old slightly different and refreshed. He slowly began to “perk up.” As time passed, the canine tried to get back on its feet by eating and doing basic movements. “He even stood by the door asking to go for a walk, which he hadn't done all week,” the woman said. Though baffled, the family wasn’t sure what caused the sudden change but like any pet parent, they only hoped it would last.

With his condition rapidly improving, the family called off the appointment and decided to give Brinkley some more time. The next day, the canine was much better, moving around and enjoying his time with his loved ones. “He wanted to play, go for a walk and eat every meal. It felt like a miracle,” Blumenfeld remarked. While there is no explanation for this sudden shift, the family has hysterically titled their canine a “master manipulator.” Many pet parents shared how their canines have also received diagnoses, but have emerged out of them all because of their love and will to live for their pet owners. @mkrnavek said, “He said, ‘I’m so glad to see all of you.'” @mammamaryo added, “I’m the only one who thinks that by watching you all together and getting all the love, he felt better.”
