Man was bereaved to share on Reddit his dog was missing—within a week, he got unbelievable message from stranger

When the community comes together to go out of their way, the result achieved is out of the ordinary. A man who goes by u/butterscotcheggs revealed that he was devastated when his dog, Meadow, went missing for over a week. With the little hope he had left, he decided to post about it on Reddit. To his surprise, a stranger, who goes by u/FunctionalERP_92, showed up with an incredible offer. When he took it up, he was delighted to receive the message he’d been earnestly waiting for. It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes good shows up in the simplest yet most profound ways.

The man recalled in a comment that it had been three days initially before Meadow was missing. There were even search teams on the lookout but there was no update on the dog’s location. “It has been snowing and quite cold where we were, so the whole town rallied together to search for Meadow but to no avail,” he mentioned. After over a week of the canine being missing, the man decided to post the news on the Reddit forum. The stranger, identified as Brian James (@roulettetravel), came across the post and decided to offer help. He “responded immediately and offered to look for Meadow with his drone.”
A Reddit stranger drove two hours and used his drone to recover Meadow, who was lost in the woods for 10 days.

In a post on Instagram, James wrote, “I’d recently spotted my white dog from the air with my drone at home, and it clicked that maybe I could help.” The owner had “lost hope” since it had been a while but obliged and took up the man’s offer. “I didn’t expect a stranger to go to the length it would require to look for Meadow,” he said. However, James became the hope the dog owner needed. “I knew I had to try. I knew there was a chance, however small,” he wrote in his caption. The man, though a stranger, went above and beyond to look for Meadow. He embarked on a 1.5-hour journey with his drone to look for the canine.
A few days ago I saw a post about a dog that had been missing for 10 days. Today I tracked her with my drone, got her to come to me, and brought her home. Here’s the moment I was able to get to her. Link to original post in comments.

While the route seemed to show no hope, at last, he spotted something. “On one of my final passes, from 350 feet above the forest, I saw a speck of white. A tiny pop of color. I descended as far as I could and circled, still unsure. And then a head looked up at me. It was Meadow,” James exclaimed. The man was delighted to find the dog after his long, tireless search. “And then she barked. She was alive. At that moment, I knew she was going home,” he remarked. Since the canine was initially nervous, he decided not to keep her on the leash and “carried that 80-pound ball of precious fur, 50 steps at a time, laying down together to rest as we worked our way out.”

James mentioned that Meadow was exhausted but was overall fine and now safe. “There were so many perfect alignments and strokes of luck that came together for the miracle of bringing Meadow home. Meadow, thank you for hanging in there — you were the ray of hope we all needed,” he added. The owner was overjoyed to reunite with his pet and also learn of the humanity and overflowing kindness that one can find. James and the owner both share glimpses of rescued Meadow in their posts. James shared another post on Reddit with Meadow of the “moment I was able to get to her.” He gave a life another chance to live and a stranger a newfound hope and it’s a surreal feeling that will forever be cherished.
