If you saw a dog on a roof, you’d certainly try to get it down or instantly alert the owners. That’s what every other passerby was doing when they spotted Huckleberry, CBS News reported. The golden retriever gave many strangers a scare by sitting up on the roof of the Lindenmuths. Getting calls, messages, doorbells ringing and whatnot was certainly frustrating. Allie and Justin Lindenmuth were fed up with getting these calls from strangers and so decided to put up a sign. It has everyone caught off guard. The Lindenmuths moved into their home in Austin, Texas, around four and a half years ago.

At the time, Huckleberry was only a puppy but quite the intelligent one. It was a few months into their settling that the dog began to appear on the roof of their home. This soon became a panic to those who could spot him and a vexing trouble to the couple, who kept receiving calls. They mentioned that they’d receive calls at least six to eight times a week and each time they had to explain why their canine was on the roof. Turns out, they knew Huckleberry had been going up there. In fact, he’d been doing it for years. To get rid of the continuous calls, the couple decided to put up a sign outside their home to explain the canine’s unusual sitting spot.

“Huckleberry has been living up to his name and has learned to jump onto the roof from our backyard,” the sign read. It added that he isn’t left outside when the owners aren’t home and he doesn’t jump down unless someone offers food or a ball. "Don't be alarmed! We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door...we know he's up there!" the sign read. There is a 3-foot distance between a hill in their backyard and the roof, making it quite an effortless move for the golden retriever to enjoy a rooftop setting. "He goes up every single time we let him outside," Allie mentioned. She noted how he likes to sit and watch cars and passersby from that view.

He even “barks and says hello.” "It is pretty obvious when he is up there... it is very loud," she added. Calling him “Huck the Roof Dog,” it is but normal for the furry guy to make himself comfortable up there. Over time, she has also shared vivid glimpses of Huckleberry, from the time he was just a puppy to now, a grown-up dog, sitting on the rooftop. One of the pictures captures the tiny canine on the roof with his ball. Whether it’s sunset, Christmas or any regular day too, the pet sure knows how to find the perfect seating for himself. Over time, Huckleberry also taught his fellow dog brothers and sisters to follow in his footsteps. The canine passed away in 2023, an Instagram post revealed. Leaving a legacy like no other, his pet parents and fellow pet canines are sure to keep it going.
