It can be easy to take a friend's generosity for granted when they have always been willing to lend a hand. A person shared a similar experience on Reddit. On September 8, 2026, a the photographer revealed in a post that they shot several of their bride-to-be friend's pre-wedding events as a favor. However, they were shocked when the bride's expectations increased, and she assumed that the friend would fulfill all her expectations without complaints.

In the now-deleted post, the bride's friend shared that taking photos is their hobby rather than a business, which was why they decided to gift their photography services to the bride and covered the engagement party in February. However, the friend was taken aback when they learned that the bride had assumed they would do photography for her wedding without asking. The friend found out in the wedding running order that their name was listed as the wedding photographer. The bride's sister forwarded the information to the friend, leaving them in disbelief.

It was not just one incident that made the friend lose their calm. After covering their engagement party, the friend even photographed the bride's other occasions. In April, the bride asked this person to take photos at her dress fitting, which they agreed to, despite it being a three-hour commitment on a Saturday. The bride then continued to ask for favors, including photography for her rehearsal dinner, to which the friend again agreed.

When the friend called the bride to discuss why their name was listed as a photographer for her wedding, they received an unexpected response. The bride stated that since the friend had covered all the pre-wedding events, she assumed that they would also photograph the wedding. The bride further mentioned that other photographers were quoting $2,800 for the service, and so she wanted her friend to do it for her for free as a favor.

The friend then explained to the bride that they would not do it and suggested that she hire a professional photographer instead. The wedding was five weeks away, and the bride's mother had already called the photographer friend twice regarding this situation. The friend also mentioned that their name had been circulating among the bridal party as someone who had dropped out of photographing the wedding.

The user reflected that if the bride had asked them back in February, they would have agreed to photograph the wedding, but since she had only assumed they would do it, things took an unexpected turn. The photographer received plenty of support from fellow Reddit users. u/SadFlatworm1436 commented, "100% upfront, she’s already had a ton of photography favors for free." u/CorgiManDan said, "No pay = no photos. Not as high a chance of getting stiffed." u/FreezNGeeze advised, "Hold the photos until invoice paid in full."

Some friends fail to recognize the limits of expectations they place on each other, and it's unfortunate when such unrealistic demands end up sabotaging relationships. In another incident, a mother asked her best friend to babysit her baby for eight hours and promised to pay $50. Little did her best friend know that she would be betrayed and accused by her friend.

In order to help her friend, the woman woke up at 5:45 a.m. and drove 45 minutes to her friend's house to babysit her toddler. She even cleaned the messy house and fed the baby two yogurts. Instead of being grateful, the friend accused the woman of misplacing things while cleaning and claimed she had taken too many yogurts from the fridge. After this incident, the mother refused to pay the woman, demonstrating how helping a friend can sometimes turn into a nightmare.
