Husband asked a health coach how to help his wife get healthier — his answer when she turned the question on him exposed the irony
Starting a healthier lifestyle can be easier when you have a partner supporting you throughout the journey. A women's health coach, Jenna Phillips (Jenna B), believed that was the case when a husband approached her for advice on how his wife could become healthier. She initially appreciated his interest in helping his partner until the conversation took an unexpected turn. A response to her simple protein-related question soon exposed a clear double standard that Phillips had missed before. She shared the details of the interaction under her Instagram handle, @jennalegacybuilt, on June 30, 2026.
As the conversation continued, Phillips turned her attention to the husband instead and asked about his protein intake. The man revealed that he usually gets around 60 grams of protein every day. The fitness coach told him that he needed to work on it and increase his daily protein intake to about one gram of protein per pound of his goal weight. Rather than discussing his wife's routine further, she nudged him to work on his health first. The man, however, replied, "I am way too busy" to eat that amount of protein regularly.
His comment immediately caught Phillips off guard as she realized the man wanted his wife to be healthier but was not ready to put in equal effort himself. She said, "Don't come talk to me about how your girl's unhealthy when you're unwilling to make the changes yourself!" She shared that when the man initially approached her, she had already noticed he was not in the best shape, which prompted her to ask about his lifestyle choices instead of just focusing on his wife. She believed it was unfair for him to expect only his partner to look after herself and her health, while he neglected his own. Real progress often starts with personal accountability before expecting it from someone else, as their conversation showed.
How one talks about their partner behind their back says a lot about the relationship. In another incident, a man approached a woman named Chiamaka in the gym asking if she had ever undergone liposuction surgery. She replied that she hadn't, sharing that she instead chooses to maintain her physique through mindful eating and regular workouts, especially cardio. Another individual overheard their conversation and chimed in after realizing the man wanted his wife to get liposuction.
The man then revealed that his partner had recently had children and had been asking him to take her to the gym with him for workouts, but he believed it would be less of a hassle if she simply got the surgery. Complaining that his wife would not be "consistent enough" with routine workouts, liposuction seemed like an easier option. The mood in the room immediately changed as the two women looked at the man in disbelief over his views on his own partner.
