New York woman with a fully grown baby bump was filming a pregnancy fit check when a stranger made a remark — it instantly changed her mood
Most people go about their day without really expecting to be noticed, especially in a busy place like New York. So when someone pauses, even for a second, to say something, it stands out in a way that feels both unexpected and deeply personal. That is what happened to Yulia Fomenko (@Fomenkojulli) when she was doing a simple pregnant fit check on the streets of New York. In the video posted on YouTube on December 22, 2025, Fomenko already looked confident and seemed to be enjoying the day. However, one comment from a stranger immediately changed the mood. The video has since gone viral and has gained 39 million views.
In the clip, she is seen standing on a busy New York street, wearing a cute polka-dotted jumpsuit that shows off her baby bump. Her hair flows freely, and she takes a moment to show off her bright red bag. Then, from off-screen, another woman calls out, “Yes, girl, you look so freaking cute. You are absolutely glowing.” She blushes and smiles, softly saying thank you. On a street where everyone minds their own business, this kind of moment feels rare.
People in the comment section had an overwhelmingly warm response to the video. @Onedayatatime-vw9bwc remarked, "Yes, she does, 'look so freaking cute!'
But the person in the background, full of a positive personality, sounded even more freaking cute," while @maiabdelwahab8849 noted, "I love it when girls give compliments to each other." There were also a few women who recalled their own experiences, which left them absolutely giddy.
@sonitazamorano2723 mentioned, "I remember a lady did that to me when I was pregnant with my second baby. I’ll never forget her; it literally lifted my self-esteem that day." @femarily9493 recounted, "I experienced it too when I was heavily pregnant with my second daughter. A few young men, my age at that time, drove past and said appreciatively and sincerely (that's how it came over) that I looked good."
According to PubMed Central research by Silav et al., studies have found that sudden weight gain in pregnancy, along with childbirth experiences and stress, can be associated with increased depression and lower self-esteem among women. Another study published in PubMed Central by Crossland et al. found that some women actually experienced improved body image during pregnancy.
This was often linked to positive feedback from others, especially when they received compliments on their changing bodies and were told they looked “glowing” or “blooming.” This highlights that even when concerns are not extreme, body image can still be complicated during pregnancy. It also shows that body image can be tough during pregnancy, and even a small compliment can make a real difference.
