Being away from a parent might not be the easiest thing for a kid. However, it's a routine thing for kids with parents in the military. So, when two Minnesota siblings, Zerick and Petroula, were missing their soldier dad who was deployed overseas, they found an interesting way to reach out to him. They shared their thoughts, feelings, told their dad they missed him and more through a doorbell camera footage, and the internet thought that the gesture was really wholesome, per a YouTube video by CBS News.

"Dad, I graduated from riding my bike now," his son, Zerick, told him in the video. "All I need help with is to push, then I am all going by myself. With no training wheels, Dad!" the excited boy continued. "How cool is that!" His daughter, Petroula, expressed, "I hope you come back home." One time, Zerick rode the bike in front of the camera and said bye to his dad. "Hi, Daddy, I miss you so much," the daughter went on. In footage from a different day, Zerick admitted, "I want to see you soon, daddy. Please, I really want you to come back." He waved to his dad and remarked, "Bye, Daddy, I am going to school to learn a lot."

"Dada, I love you so much. Please come home soon," Petroula admitted in a footage from yet another day, "I love you." In one clip, the siblings seemed to be getting ready to go out when the boy moves close to the camera to show off his new haircut to his dad. "Hi dad, I got a new haircut," he said, turning to show his head to the camera, before running away. "I miss you so much, so much," Petroula continued as she did a little twirl, "So, so much." Zerick was coming in from somewhere and decided to greet his dad through the camera, "Hi Dad, I miss you a lot. Hope we are going to see you soon. It's Petroula's birthday today!" On cue, his sister swayed into the frame wearing a tiara and carrying a big brown bag.

The siblings knew that their dad was deployed in the Middle East in 2020, and could hear their messages if they spoke to the doorbell cam, per the outlet. People in the comments thought that the kids' messages for their dad were absolutely heartwarming, and some others could also relate to how they were feeling. @TheeCuteness wrote, "When he says 'I'm going to school to learn a lot...' That one got me right in the heart. As a Navy brat, I know that feeling of wanting your Dad to be as proud of you as you are of him. Wish this was around when we were young. Even from afar, this Dad is raising good, sweet kids. Bless you all for your service and sacrifice."

@davidedwards4088 commented, "Young man and little young lady, your father will absolutely love this! I'm so very proud of both of you! Mom and Dad, you have amazing children! Happy Thanksgiving from California, thank you for your service to our great country." @ReVerseMe100 remarked, "Ring should make this their new advertising campaign. What a brilliantly simple way to stay in touch with your loved ones from afar." @LilHayes shared, "'Hi there, I graduated from riding my bike. Now, no training wheels. How cool is that!' I’m going to spend all day today with my kids."
