Everyone needs necessities like food, clothes and shelter to live a modest life. But countless people can't afford to purchase their own homes and as a result, they have to rely on rented houses and apartments. Monthly rent takes away a significant chunk of people's income but that's just a way of living. However, not everyone is as lucky as Chris Robarege, who got a generous landlord. According to Goalcast, when the Worcester resident got divorced, he moved out of his home and started living in a rental home.

After a while, Robarge moved away from the rental without giving much thought to it. But he didn't expect his former landlord to reach out to him one day, asking for his current address. A few days later, Robarge received a mail and along with it, a surprising sum of $2,500. Robarge took to his Facebook account to elaborate on the story. In the post, he shared a picture of the $2500 cheque written by his former landlord and a letter from him.

"This person rented me a space in their house. That was the first place I had to actually call home when I had to leave my house after I got divorced. I paid a completely fair amount of money for my accommodations and really enjoyed my time there and like all rental situations, I figured that was that," Robarge wrote in his 2021 post. "I got this in the mail. It's a letter from that person, informing me that they sold their house and that they were paying me and every tenant they ever had for what we contributed to the profit they made from selling the house."

Robarge was baffled at his former landlord's generosity as he suddenly found himself $2500 richer. "All that I can say is that there are people who talk about their values and there are people who actually live them and the reason I wanted to share this is that I want to encourage us all to actually live our values. Do it off the clock, do it when no one is watching, do it always," Robarge further wrote, keeping the former landlord's identity private upon his request. He later made an edit to his post and mentioned how he kept $500 to do some repair work on his car and gave away the rest of the money.

He donated $500 to Black and Pink Massachusetts, an organization that works alongside incarcerated LGBTQ+ people in the state. "I'm going to fill every Worcester Free Fridge. I'm making a donation to OurStory Edutainment and I'm going to give some money out in the streets to people who need it. If you can't do what my former landlord did, let this inspire you to give whatever you can spare to someone or someplace that needs it," Robarge concluded his post. The comment section of his post was filled with words of appreciation for the landlord and Robarge for paying the kindness forward.

Deb Powers commented, "That's amazing and so are you for the thoughtful way you're redistributing your unexpected bonus." Kali Rohr Blakeslee remarked, "What an amazing example of good karma. I’m sure you were careful to choose a landlord with similar values to you. This is wonderful." Judy Michaud Ferraresso mentioned, "Because of how conditioned we seem to be by bad news and people, I started reading this expecting that you were going to get a bill for something they said you owed from that time. What a shock to see what it actually was. I am so glad you shared this post to inspire more people to do what they can and pass good along. I am just as proud of them as I am of you!"
