Some acts of kindness might be remembered for a long time. The COVID-19 pandemic saw many such acts as people tried to stay afloat during the distressing times. One landlord came through for his tenants while they were struggling to make ends meet in April of 2020. The landlord called up his tenant, a mom of four and told her that she didn't need to pay rent for that month. However, his kindness didn't end there, per a Facebook post by the woman, Christina Marie.

"So, my landlord, Alan, called me earlier and told me not to worry about rent this month and we will think about it later," Marie recounted. She agreed to that and was grateful for the kind gesture. The man also enquired if they had food in the house or if they'd have to go out to purchase it. "I told him how I had three packs of meat left and needed to go this week." Alan asked her to be safe after that and hung up. However, Marie didn't know that her landlord had more surprises in store for her. He sent her a text later on and requested her to go to her front porch and check what was there.

Marie was surprised to find bags after bags of groceries lining her front porch. There were 16 bags in total and it included cartons of milk, huge packs of diapers, potatoes and more. The mom from Saginaw, Michigan, was struggling to cover her bills at that time, per Goal Cast. So she was really overwhelmed at the generous and unexpected act. "I couldn’t tell you how I feel right now. For him to do this for my family, my heart is so touched. God bless you," the mom wrote in her post. According to the outlet, Alan had been inspired by another landlord's words who encouraged his peers to consider looking at their own situation and waiving people's rent if possible. "I ask any other landlords out there to take a serious look at your own situation and consider giving your tenants some rent relief as well," the person, Nathan, had asked.

According to a Terner Center report from UC Berkeley, nine percent of landlords lowered rents for a month or more during the pandemic. While six percent decided to forgive some or more amount of past-due rent. People appreciated the landlord's kind gesture for the woman's family in the comments section of the post. Lynette Murday wrote, "So happy you have a landlord with a good heart and happy that he/she could afford to do that." Cee Cee commented, "Blessings on Blessings, receive it all. The Lord knows how much of a good person you are at heart, you and the family deserve it all. Amen."

Balentin Torres remarked, "Better keep him as your landlord because it is really hard to find a good hearted person like that. God bless him." Mivida Loca shared, "That’s is such a true blessing. And to know that someone would do this during such a hard time is truly amazing. It's nice to know that we can stick together during such times and that there are decent human beings like that around." Jennifer Marie Turner expressed, "Awesome for you. Count your blessings and hope you guys are staying healthy during these tough times."
