Man finally agreed to dinner after a woman repeatedly told him she didn't drink — what she saw before their date even began made her walk away

She had tried to find an option that suited both of them, but the evening still took a direction she did not want.

Dating can be frustrating when you make plans together, only to have one person disregard them and follow their own agenda. Content creator Landry experienced this when a man kept asking her to meet him at a bar even after she clearly said she did not drink. She suggested coffee or dinner instead, and he eventually agreed to dinner. In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Landry, who goes by @landry53250, explained why she changed her mind after reaching the restaurant.

The man had told Landry that he was at the restaurant early, and he was waiting at the bar. He then asked if she wanted to join him there for a drink, despite her having already explained that she did not drink. The content creator recalled thinking, "How many times do I have to tell you that I don't drink?" When she finally arrived, she saw him taking a shot at the bar. She immediately turned around and left without approaching him. The sight made her feel that they were clearly looking for different things from the evening. Landry did not simply disappear after leaving the restaurant. She sent him a message explaining that she did not think meeting was going to work for her.

He was upset by her decision and sent her a harsh response. "I just don't think our paths need to cross," she explained about her decision to leave. She also mentioned that he followed many women and models on Instagram and regularly commented on their posts. For Landry, those details added to her concerns about him and made walking away feel like the right choice. The incident left Landry convinced that ending the date before it began was the ideal thing to do. She had been clear about her plans and had tried to find an option that suited both of them, but the evening still took a direction she did not want. His behavior at the restaurant only confirmed that their expectations were different.

Respecting someone's choice can make a big difference when two people are deciding whether to meet. Sadly, many people cross the line. In another incident, a woman reconsidered a second date after the man chose places that did not match what she had clearly told him. She had already explained that she did not drink and needed food without red meat. Yet, his dinner plan involved a cocktail lounge followed by another bar. "At that point, I was honestly pretty thoroughly confused," she said. The choices made her question whether he had truly listened to her.

She eventually decided to cancel instead of ignoring her concerns just to keep the date. She felt there were plenty of suitable restaurants available, so choosing two places centered around alcohol seemed careless. His short response did not make her feel better either, leaving her to trust her decision. She later admitted to questioning herself but remembered that she was happy with her life and did not need to rush into a relationship. "I am in no rush to settle down, especially for the wrong person." Her experience showed that respecting personal limits can matter more than simply making a date happen.
