Man has the best response after being accidentally paid 330 times his salary
Payday is that time of the month when employees impatiently await the 'cha-ching!' notification in their accounts. Surprisingly, luck shined brighter than ever for one employee at a Chilean company on his payday. The man received 330 times more money than his regular salary, as per Fortune. Of course, it wasn’t intended and was a mishap, but the employee undoubtedly took the best advantage of the situation. The employee used to work at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (Cial) where he received a basic salary every month like other employees.
The employee received 500,000 Chilean pesos (about $530) as his monthly salary. However, a mixup with HR resulted in him receiving an unbelievably whopping amount instead of his normal paycheck. The employee found himself staring at 165,398,851 Chilean pesos (approximately $174,629) in his bank account straight from the company. Like every average employee, the man was astounded but low-key delighted. Where employees are often underpaid, the man was accidentally overpaid by the company. As a dispatch assistant, the employee realized something was wrong and reported the same to his assistant manager, per Diario Financiero.
After checking and reviewing the accounts, HR realized the error. The company asked the employee to go to the bank and return the excess amount. "He was informed and clarified that this money did not correspond to the payment of any service," the lawsuit filed by the company specified. The man was clearly instructed to send back the money as soon as he could, which he also agreed to. When the day and time came in for the man to make the transfer, he was nowhere to be found. After the company repeatedly contacted him, he justified by saying that he got delayed and would hurry over to make the return.
The man was an average employee so the error was like a jackpot and a dream come true. Therefore, instead of returning the money, the man disappeared for the next few days, keeping no contact with the company. The latter made excruciating efforts to locate and persuade the man but in vain. A few days later, the man contacted the company through his lawyer and sent in a voluntary resignation. After the call, there was no other sign or means of contact between the company and the former employee. It is safe to assume that he decided to accept all the excess money as his own.
The company tried its best to locate the former employee and even lodged a complaint against him. However, the man was nowhere to be found. He was likely enjoying the whopping jackpot he had received. The man received a 9-figure amount instead of a 6-figure one. It was almost a million he got in his account and one would consider it nothing less than a miracle. The authorities continued looking for the employee who fled with their money.
