Man walking dog was approached by puppy—he made a life-saving discovery after following the pup

Animals have a way of communicating with human beings and their signs, symbols, distress and other actions should not go unnoticed. A man named Elgene Thynes revealed that when a dog suddenly approached him and started acting unusually, he decided to act on it. Seeing how frantic the canine seemed, he decided to follow him and check out what the problem might be. This simple idea and action helped save two lives. Thynes shared how proud he was to have followed his intuition and how important it is to be observant and alert.

Thynes was walking his dog when another dog approached him abruptly. He was “dragging his leash behind him” and profusely kept barking at the pet parent. Having a pet of his own, he knew there was something more to the worrisome barks being let out by the dog. Furthermore, he was terrified that the dog, being unaccompanied and hyper, would get hit by a vehicle. Thynes got closer to the canine to see if he could get the owner’s details from his tag. “He would get just close enough where he was out of arm's reach and he would bark and turn and run a few steps and turn back around,” he wrote. He was pushed to believe that the dog wanted to be followed.

The dog was keeping his distance throughout but his persistent barking caused Thynes to run after him and stumble upon something scary. “He eventually took me to a little path behind the train tracks that is super secluded,” he wrote, adding that he found two tents where he discovered someone in need. The canine had led him to a man who was unresponsive and Thynes immediately dialed 911. Moments later, he found another person in the area who was also unresponsive. Fortunately, the medics arrived and were able to take them in the ambulance.

“My attention went back to this amazing, life-saving dog. I felt compelled to make sure he was okay, too,” the post read. Moved by the canine’s gesture, Thynes wanted to reward the dog for his vigilance and courage. “Animal control showed up and said they had to take the dog to the pound, far outside the city. I figured that these folks wouldn’t be able to get out there to get him back… much less be able to afford the fees to get him out. So I said that I would take the dog home with me,” he explained. He eventually took the pet home and tended to him.

The canine had an infection and was also lean but Thynes was sure that the dog deserved all good things for making a tedious effort to find help for his owners. “I know how important the unconditional love of your dog can be and how much love they have for you, even at your worst. So it is an honor for me to take care of this guy until his humans are well enough to reunite,” he remarked. He added, “This experience has been surreal but it only reaffirms to me that God is real and he speaks to you… If you choose to listen. And I’m so glad that I did.”
