One of the biggest changes that comes with marriage or being in a relationship is having to live with one’s partner. This means spending life together and going through all the changes, ups, and downs. For women, as they age, their bodies and lives change drastically. Having a partner through it all can be a different feeling for each woman. The sheer idea of living with a man brings changes of its own. To find out whether these changes are worth it, a woman named Gabriella, who goes by @canihaveitspicy on TikTok, called on married ladies over the age of 35. In her video, she asked women whether living with a man is really worth it, and the ladies went all out in advising her.

“I wanna know from women over 35 if cohabiting with men is really worth it. Is that something I should be looking forward to in my life?" she asked in her video. With over 9k comments, married women had different perspectives to point out. Most women pointed out that marriage may sound great and that having the comfort of a partner is even better. However, if they were given an option to not live with their husbands, they’d jump at the first opportunity. @just_ginger_rose wrote, “Absolutely not. While the partnership is lovely, I would strongly recommend keeping your own space and your finances separate.” @thelaurenlucille added, “Happily married but I say this without any weirdness. If he dies first, I will not do it again.”

Women went on in a confident rant about why it’s not the best idea to live with a man, even if it’s their husband! @kilbie_actual exclaimed, “I love my husband with my whole heart but he will be the last man in my life.” @daisycreek wrote, “Nope! 45 here, living alone for the first time ever. The peace is glorious!” Other women suggested making a conscious decision by underlining specifics before making the decision. @lupewhitted remarked, “He needs to be incredibly amazing, love you more than you love him and always want to make you happy. Other than that, it’s a hard no.” @2stormz mentioned, “Only if you have separate bedrooms and bathrooms.”

@pluspublicitesvp noted, “If you do it, you need to set expectations. You’re not his maid or mom. He needs to contribute to household duties, including management of those without being asked or told.” Still, others pointed out more vibrant and fun alternatives that they’d vouch for any day. @honeypiesugarbrunch65 said, “Get a good girlfriend, share the cost, and build your empire.” @ahankins84 remarked, “I’m 39. Just bought a house with my dog. Been the happiest ever.” @sheilawonder remarked, “My husband and I live next door to each other and it’s amazing for us. Look up LAT (Living Apart Together)”

A selected few women vouched for living with their husbands, still under careful conditions. @laur_ugh wrote, “Only if you have a competent and caring partner. My husband cleans, cooks, does grocery shopping and more than I do because I work longer hours. He is emotionally intelligent and supportive. Just find the right guy who cares. @jenn.smith exclaimed, ‘Hot take- Yes! If he is obsessed with you, innately helpful and competent by nature.”
