Mean old ladies at the county clerk’s office called a younger staffer’s outfit ‘seductive,’ so she changed into modest outfits they hated even more
Every once in a while, we come across people who refuse to mind their own business. It’s fun to teach them a lesson using creativity and humor. A Reddit user who goes by u/no_exit_for_crybaby shared a post on September 8, 2025, about a story from the time she worked at the County Clerk’s office. Back then, some of her elderly colleagues accused her of dressing “s**y” deliberately so she could “be seductive.” While she couldn’t understand how simple formal clothing gave that impression, she decided to listen to their grievances and dress “modestly.” The outfits she chose had them grumbling in defeat.
The woman used to wear simple blouses and dress pants to work. However, when the elderly workers had a problem with it, she decided to change her wardrobe in a fun way. She switched from professional clothing to dresses, sweaters, shrugs, and other items to create an “overgrown toddler” look. Sharing pictures of her outfits, she showed how teddy bears, clouds, and pastel colors became a part of her style. On certain days, she even added two ponytails just to be sure she didn’t appear “seductive.” “They didn’t like that either, but they weren’t able to complain about me trying to be ‘s**y’ anymore. Petty? Yes. Hilarious? Absolutely,” she remarked.
The response felt satisfying because, according to her reply to one of the comments, eventually, she started to take a liking to those colors and styles and tweaked them in her own vibrant ways. While the revenge was top-notch, it was a double-win because the woman pulled off the look brilliantly. Fellow users were also left impressed by her new style. u/oneofkeiraensmom wrote, “The bear pattern dress does look exactly like one I wore in a photo my mom has of me at 4.” u/Whispering_Wolf remarked, “They're mad cause you still slay.” u/AsianMurderHornet pointed out how she didn’t leave her footwear out of the theme either. “Girl, I'm dying at the Mary Janes with the little lacy socks. I love this,” the comment read.
Coworkers usually find little things to pick on and create problems. But not letting it affect you and shutting them down with clever responses can help diffuse the situation. In another instance, an employee was frustrated with her colleague complaining about the traditional Thai food she brought to the office. “A lot of what I make has strong flavors — garlic, fermented fish sauce, chili, shrimp paste, that kind of thing,” she explained. Other workers loved it when it was her turn to cook for potlucks. However, this one woman kept ranting and being disrespectful.
At one point, she said the food “smells” and even commented that it had too many “strong flavors.” Instead of arguing with her, the employee decided to approach the situation differently. “I made my usual dish plus a plain grilled chicken breast with some steamed veggies and a little cup of ranch dressing. No seasoning, no ‘strong smells,’ etc.,” she shared. She wrote a special note addressing her coworker, saying the latter was just for her since she liked “something simple.” She’s definitely going to want some of that “pungent” food after all that bland food numbs her mouth!
