Mom at dentist demanded woman whose teeth were knocked out by an abusive ex tell her child junk food caused it — her reply made them flee

The basic and obvious approach when you need a favor is kindness and respect. Unfortunately, one mom chose to act differently. A Reddit user who goes by u/Jessi_L_1324 shared a post on April 24, 2026, about a time she was visiting the dentist for some dental work. During one of the appointments, a mom demanded that she lie and tell her young kid that her teeth were bad because of junk food. Her response made the woman grab her child and run out seconds later.
The patient mentioned that she had been in an abusive relationship with her former partner. He had knocked out her teeth. She was missing four front teeth. During one of her appointments, the mother-child duo walked in. The parent “demanded I tell her kid that I had lost all my teeth because I didn't brush and floss every day and only ate junk food and drank nothing but soda and chocolate milk.” Seeing how disrespectful and entitled she seemed, the woman chose the perfect reply. “I used to have an abusive boyfriend who didn’t like how I smiled at him one day. So he slammed my face into the kitchen table repeatedly and knocked me out to teach me a lesson,” she carefully explained.
The little girl was likely 3 or 4 years old and was extremely confused by her response. However, the mom was terrified after listening to what she had to say. “It was like watching a cartoon in real life, the way you could see the color just drain from her entire being before her soul left her body,” she remarked. Within seconds, the parent took her daughter and left the room. To many, it was a well-deserved outcome, since the woman knew nothing about the patient’s story and had no idea of her difficult past. Because her ex had damaged her teeth, she had to use a removable flipper to replace her missing front teeth.
The woman was frustrated because the mom demanded that she lie to scare the child. Readers did not hesitate to call out the mother's entitlement. u/It_SJustMeYouSee said, “Well done! I always feel sorry for children who have parents like that.” u/Blahdedah added, “I never cease to be horrified by the audacity and cruelty of people.” u/Candlemelter2025 remarked, “You are a survivor, and that lady deserved the truth she asked for by being so nasty to another human being.” No one has the right to be haughty and cruel toward another person, especially when asking for a favor. In another instance, an employee at a restaurant was shocked at one parent’s demand.
The mom walked in with a stroller, cut in line, and insisted that a worker show her son the food items because he couldn’t see them. The employee assumed the child might be a toddler or have some disability and took the food from the counter to the duo. She was shocked to see that he was just an infant. She immediately informed the mom that her baby was too young and asked if he was even having solid food yet. The woman went on to be a nuisance for the rest of her time in the restaurant, making it one of the worst experiences the worker had in 10 years on the job.
