Mom challenged her 5-year-old with autism to draw her—the end result caught her totally off guard

Children are said to be raw and honest when it comes to commenting on something. They don’t have a filter which often results in some of the most adorable as well as unhinged truths. A mom named Rebecca Rand (@officiallysidity) was eager to see how her 5-year-old daughter with autism drew her, Newsweek reported. She’d asked her to make a depiction of her and when she looked at the picture, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Right from the hair to the chin and torso, everything was taken into deep consideration by the little girl to render what was, according to her, the most artsy depiction of her mum.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in 31 children aged 8 showed signs of prevalence of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) across 16 states. The rate has since been increasing and a higher prevalence has been observed from 2020 to 2022. The study also noted that children around four years of age reported a higher rate of ASD identification by 48 months as compared to children born earlier. Sharing how she came up with the idea for her autistic 5-year-old, the mom revealed how she tries her best to encourage her daughter to draw.

"We had just got this new whiteboard, so I was like, 'Okay, mommy is going to sit right here and you draw what mommy looks like,'" she recalled. When the 5-year-old was ready, she casually showed her mom the sketch she had made, but little did Rand know, it was going to leave her baffled. “This is what mommy looks like,” the woman said, unable to control her smile. Showing a depiction of what appears to be a clown or snowman, the 5-year-old was proud to present the best of her artwork to her mother. As soon as Rand saw it, she burst into laughter. With a clown audio playing in the background of the video, the mom checked out the drawing closely.

The huge torso and earrings left her baffled. Unable to hold it together, she wheezed away as she tried to decode the drawing her daughter had made. However, when she looked in detail, she was able to appreciate the effort and the thinking behind where the depiction came. While it may seem hysterical from the top, when you look into detail, you’ll know that the little girl has taken a lot of thought and observation into creating her masterpiece. "She just hasn't perfected the neck area in portraits yet," the mom said.
Rand took note of the minute details her daughter was able to capture. Right from her earrings, her baby hair, and even her nose piercing, the little girl had carefully tried to add features and details, and that fact was already worth applause for the mom. "I thought it was the most hilarious thing I had ever seen and the most stylish snowman that could ever be drawn," she remarked. “Ta-da!” the girl exclaimed, after her mom finally figured out why the sketch looked like her. Moreover, Rand was sure to encourage her daughter by hilariously saying, “I look like a snowman, but good job!”
