Mom checks baby monitor one morning, gets emotional seeing what her daughter was doing: 'Sweetest thing to me'
Babies might show surprising behavior at times. One baby's unusual behavior after waking up in the morning left her mom a little emotional. The woman checked the baby monitor one morning and saw that her baby was awake in her crib. She was sitting up and wide awake, but what surprised the mom the most was the fact that the baby was not fussy at all. She was not crying at all and patiently waiting for her parents. The clip captured by the baby monitor was shared by the mom, Ashley Gaus, who goes by @shleymarieeee on TikTok. The brief video received over 4.8 million views.
Ashley shared a clip of her baby sitting quietly and patiently in her crib, without moving much. "Every single morning, this girl just quietly sits in her crib waiting, no cries, nothing," the text overlay of the video read. The caption explained, "She literally sits there quietly for as long as it takes for one of us to wake up and get her. I don't know why, but it's the sweetest thing to me." The mom had noticed this after she moved her daughter's crib to a separate room, per Newsweek. "From that point, we would wake up and wait to hear her and then realize that she would not call for us and was sitting there just looking around her room every morning."

"She has a genuinely calm demeanor. She just likes a minute to wake up and take it all in. She is unhappy if someone barges in right when she opens up her eyes," Ashley remarked, explaining her daughter's morning ritual. "She is the definition of go-with-the-flow. She is only one and she independently plays more than many other children I’ve known at this age." The woman revealed that her daughter's behavior was not taught and came by on its own accord. "I will say we have never sleep-trained her or let her cry it out in any instance." People shared their thoughts on the baby's sweet morning routine in the comments section of the video.
@ariel_is_me wrote, "This is a sign your child is practicing self-regulation and is a key indicator that the baby knows their needs will be responded to. Therefore, they don’t need to cry. This child has a healthy attachment to you and knows you will come!" @effyxo commented, "My baby used to do this and now she's almost two and she gets up and out of her bed and comes into my room. I have a heart attack about three times a week when I open my eyes to a face staring at me in the dark."
@veebeebo remarked, "I'm sorry and I don't mean that it’s the case here, but many parents have been duped by modern sleep training. Their babies learn that nobody comes to comfort them when they cry, so they eventually just stop crying." @charliebbyxc shared, "Everyone's saying she's given up because she knows nobody is coming to get her… but maybe she's just not panicking because she knows somebody will always come to her! A loved baby is a trusting baby." Ashley often shares glimpses of her baby on her page. In one video, she celebrated her baby's first birthday.
@shleymarieeee The things I’d do to go back and relive this last year. Absolutely anything. You were always meant to be mine. I love you so much 😭❤️
