Mom hid a brooch in bride's wedding dress—the reason made the bride emotional
A person might want to have all their loved ones around on their special day. Unfortunately, some people can't be there due to unforeseen circumstances. A bride was missing her beloved grandmother on her wedding day, who couldn't be around because of being unwell. But then her mother revealed a brooch she had hidden in the bride's wedding dress and the reason behind it helped her feel better. The woman Cait, who goes by @cait__apresnoon on TikTok, shared a video of the moment. The brief clip received over 50,700 views.
The woman shared a clip of her mum showing her the brooch hidden inside the folds of her dress. She had found the accessory in the nursing home's room where Cait's grandma lived. She secretly attached it to her daughter's dress as her "something borrowed and something blue" because the grandma was "too unwell" to attend the wedding. The caption read, "Almost forgot this happened but it was so special… because as much as you plan your wedding, sometimes some of the best details are the little surprises other people plan." The tiny blue brooch meant the world to the bride as the mom revealed the surprise with a big smile on her face.

The gesture allowed the woman's grandmother to attend her wedding in spirit and it helped the bride a lot, per Newsweek. "My grandma is like the mouses of Cinderella. She’s always been quiet, polite and sweet with us, but then will come out with the stories of the incredible work she’s done in her life, like being a maths genius before calculators or computers at a bank or rocking hot pants as a waitress," Cait shared with the outlet. The woman had always been really close to her grandmother, so it was difficult for her when the senior woman was affected by dementia. "Now, she has unfortunately been completely taken from us all by dementia. While her body lives on, her mind has gone and it’s been tough to watch."
The grandmother couldn't be there because of her illness. "I felt a huge rush of joy with a tinge of sadness that none of the grandparents could be there on the day, as much as they would have all loved to," Cait went on. "This little touch made it feel like they were there in spirit." Some other gestures also ensured the bride felt her grandparents' presence. "A few other touches were really special, too. My uncle wore my grandpa's bow tie, for example." They also kept framed photos of all the grandparents on the wedding venue to include them in the ceremony in some way.
It was still a little difficult for Cait as her grandmother didn't know anything about the gesture. "My grandma didn’t know about it. I wish she could understand that she was there with me in spirit." However, the grandma got a chance to look at the wedding photos and remarked that the girl in the pictures looked really pretty. "So that will do for me." Cait shared a lot of glimpses of her wedding planning on her page. In one video, she shared that one of her favorite moments during her wedding was when she got a chance to talk to her husband for a few minutes after they had signed the certificate.
