People with disabilities or other conditions are encouraged not to pay heed to trolls, especially when they’re advocating for themselves and showcasing their talents. One mom practised the same and would ignore any negative comments that came about her autistic children. She handles the Facebook page, Two Autistic Siblings, and shared a post on October 19, 2026, explaining how someone had made a nasty remark about her son. She usually ignores them she decided to reply to this person. To her surprise, they responded with something she never saw coming. It reminded her of her purpose.

The mom was no stranger to bullying and rude comments about her children online. While she never bothered otherwise, she decided to reply to one such remark for fun. In return, the person replied in a way she never expected — they sent her an apology. Not just a forced one out of fear or for the sake of it, but a heartfelt one. They said sorry, before adding, “I didn’t know how complex autism can be for someone, let alone a parent.” They mentioned they deleted the comment and assured the woman that she was doing a great job as a mother. They even shared sympathy and noted that they weren’t expressing it casually.

The woman was moved to receive the message. It wasn’t just the words the person said, but rather their understanding and change of heart. She noted that it made her realize this was exactly why she had created that page and publicly shared her autistic children’s lives. “I know I’m not going to change everybody’s opinion, but if sharing our everyday lives helps even one person understand autism a little better, then that’s enough for me,” she remarked. While she reiterated that nasty comments are the last thing she loses sleep over, this encounter would certainly become something unforgettable for all the right reasons.

Many people look at autism or disorders as something to pity or frown upon. However, like this mom, our job is to look for the unique aspects and share those to change minds. In another instance, a mom was greeted with pity by a stranger who saw she had two autistic children. She sympathized, saying that it must be hard to parent them. However, the mom decided to change her perspective. She told the passerby, “You know what, they are the best of it." She explained how there’s never a dull moment with their unique personalities. Yet, even then, the woman kept giving her sorry looks. The mom decided to share what the experience was from her point of view. She explained that it was a blessing to be a parent, and the fact that she was trusted with the added responsibilities and challenges only came as an opportunity for her. Instead of agreeing that she was a sorry case as society suggests, she showed what a colorful lifestyle it can be to raise such special children.
