Mom takes a family photo while hiking with husband and their baby—then spots something unusual in the photo

Babies might do things that are both funny and a little scary at times. An Alaska mom captured one such moment while she was trying to take a family selfie during a hike. Leonella F, who goes by @leonellaf on TikTok, was out in nature with her husband and her baby. The man was carrying the baby in a front carrier and they were walking by, doing their usual, favorite family activity, when Leonella brought her camera out. She was surprised to see what her son was holding. The brief clip received over 968,900 views.

"About to take a picture of my family, until I notice my son is eating a leaf that he picked off a tree," the text overlay of the video read. The parents were walking by the trees, completely unaware that their son had picked off a leaf and was trying to eat it, until the mom saw it in the camera. The woman was shaken as she turned around and pried the leaf out of her son's hands. "Just a minute earlier, he was chomping away and I was completely oblivious," she further added. Leonella checked her son's mouth to get the leaves out, as her son was still chewing on something, but there was nothing inside.
@leonellaf He has a thing for leaves it seems. He’s taken leaves off so many of my house plants and greenhouse plants😂😂 #fyp #toocute #babyboy #hike #mountains @Tactical Baby Gear ♬ The Other Side - edits_btn
The mom noted that the leaves were not poisonous or harmful. However, her son's chomping habits had come with a big disadvantage for her house plants. "He has a thing for leaves, it seems. He’s taken leaves off so many of my house plants and greenhouse plants," the caption revealed. Although it is a common thing that children do as they explore their surroundings, it might become important to stop them and teach them how to differentiate between harmless leaves and poisonous leaves like poison ivy and poison oak, per Childhood Education Zone, a YouTube channel for parents and caregivers. They gave an interesting saying that goes, "Leaves of three, let them be," to help kids stay away from poisonous plants.
Parents can organize nature walks to teach their kids more about each leaf and plant they might encounter around them. People in the comments section breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the leaf the baby ate was safe. @langyuting_ wrote, " Help. My mom would’ve had her finger in his mouth so fast, trying to scoop out the forbidden salad pieces." @coffeetolive commented, "As the mom to a 4-year-old boy, this is mild compared to the things he could (and probably will) put in his mouth."

@shaylyn_oneal remarked, "When I was his age, my dad had me in one of those, but on his back. We were on a vacation somewhere and some guy tapped my dad on the shoulder and was like…'Uh, sir, your daughter is eating a leaf.' I must’ve reached up and grabbed one without my parents noticing." @lifeg6 shared, "My son is 2 years old and would fight us to eat, but that random crumb on the floor might as well be a 5-star meal." In another video, the mom shared that the baby was doing completely fine, but he was still chewing on something after she took the leaf away and checked his mouth.
@leonellaf Replying to @langyuting_ the way he’s still chomping away😅 #chomping #fyp #babyboy ♬ Time - Angelo De Augustine
