Mom thought 5-year-old daughter was holding a doll in the backseat—within minutes, she realized how wrong she was

Mischief from little kids often comes through imagination. Sometimes, it also involves skilful and meticulous execution along with giggles and a simple plan. A mom named Alanna Matson (@ajmagnifica) recalled how her 5-year-old twins, Bria and Cora, managed to pull off the most hysterical heist she’d ever imagined. Speaking with TODAY, the woman explained how she thought she had everything under control as she got her daughters into the backseat of her car and began driving. Little did she know that her girls had an unbelievable plan up their sleeve — or rather in their arms. Thinking it was a doll at first, the mom was baffled at what she saw minutes later.

The mom had just rushed from work to her home to drive her daughters to ballet class. It was a busy schedule and the mom didn’t expect anything aloof. Instead, she probably packed her kids and got them into the car before heading to the driver’s seat. Matson mentioned that both Bria and Cora enjoyed wrapping their toy dolls in blankets and cradling them on their way during drives. Both girls showed up with wrapped blankets and the mom presumed their dolls were there as usual. She didn’t think much of it and was on her way to their class. After she pulled out of the driveway, she heard a worrisome sound.

It was about a mile into the trip that Matson was convinced there was an unusual sound coming from behind and decided to check. To her surprise, she found Cora with her wrapped blanket but not with a doll. Instead, she had her cat, Tito, warmly wrapped up. The feline was confused and kept looking around, wondering why he was wherever he was. Matson, too stunned for words, backed up into her driveway and asked why Cora came up with the unexpected plan. “Because he’s my best friend,” she remarked with a satisfied smile. Turns out, the girls sneakily hid the feline in a corner while the mom buckled them in.

“Tito was like, ‘I think we’ve made a grave mistake here,’” the mom remarked as she focused on the bewildered pet. As Cora chuckled away, feeling proud of having pulled off her plan, she explained why Tito couldn’t go with them to dance class. Asking her to leave him back home, the mom held back laughter as she let out the worried cat. “Be free,” she remarked, as he jumped and ran straight into their yard, no longer bound by the blanket. In another video, the little girl had the platform to share why the feline was so special to her.

Looking at different instances of her playing, sleeping and even conducting photoshoots with the animal, Cora couldn’t help but explain how "irresistible” he was. People went wild in the comments, commending the sisters’ and Tito’s coordination. @mj.bobo2002 said, “I wonder how far they would have made it if he had not meowed.” @beth1852 remarked, “Tito was like, ‘This was a strategic error on my part.’” @allisondahlman, a fellow feline lover, defended Cora’s actions by noting that her cat is her best friend, too. “This made me so happy, I love her,” she remarked.
