Pregnant woman asked mother-in-law to be with her in delivery room—MIL's reaction hailed as biggest 'green flag'

A baby's arrival in the family can be a thrilling experience for almost everyone. However, the delivery time is also crucial not only for the new mom but also for the loved ones, as they want to respect the mom's boundaries and wishes. A pregnant woman named Bailee Heiman–who goes by @tannerandbailee on TikTok–asked her mother-in-law, Jamie Heiman, to be in the delivery room with her and her reaction showed her that she is the "greenest flag" ever. Bailee gave the exhilarating news to Jamie (MIL), who did not expect the news at all.

Bailee went into the kitchen where her mother-in-law was baking something and said she had a question for her. Jamie continued doing her work as she encouraged Bailee to go on. "Do you want to be in the room when the baby comes?" Bailee asked. Jamie slowly dropped what she was doing and quietly asked, "Are you freaking kidding me?" and took off her glasses. "Are you serious?" she asked with surprise and excitement. Once Bailee confirmed that, the mother-in-law got super excited and exclaimed, "Yes! I would love to! Oh my god, are you kidding me—for real?" Jamie seemed thrilled and went ahead to give Bailee a big hug as her shock wore off.

"Wait, why? Bailee! Oh my god, this is my dream come true!" the mom went on. She jumped in excitement and paced the kitchen. Jamie said she was on "cloud nine" because of the offer, per TODAY. Bailee wanted her mom, mother-in-law and sister in the room with her, but waited to ask as she was not sure if her birth plan would be changed later on. "I knew my mother-in-law would be thrilled to be in the room. My husband said she would...understand either way. She wasn't expecting to be asked, so there was no pressure," Bailee admitted. Jamie has three daughters and one son, Bailee's husband, Tanner. Also, she has nine grandchildren and was there for each of their births.

However, she was not expecting to be in the delivery room this time. "It was Bailee's mom's turn," Jamie said. She was thrilled when her daughter-in-law asked her to be there. "I couldn't believe this was actually happening," she added. Bailee was in labor for 47 hours, and her family was constantly by her side to show their support. "To watch my son become a dad—it was awesome," the mother-in-law expressed. People shared their thoughts in the comment section of the video.
