Ring cam caught dog being dumped before desperately trying to get back in car — neighborhood man saw the video and stepped in
People on the internet were shocked when a video of a woman abandoning her dog surfaced online. The owner could be seen letting the dog out of the car in footage captured by one of the Ring cameras in the neighborhood. The white sedan simply drove off after leaving the Goldendoodle behind. But then a man in the area, Pastor Garcilazo, heard about the dog and decided to check on him. He made a big decision to change the dog's life, per an Instagram video by Only in DADE, under the handle @onlyindade, which received over 11.6K likes.
The video was shared by the owner of the house near the spot where the dog was abandoned. The homeowner watched the footage and revealed that the dog was still around their house if someone wanted to give him a new home. They felt very sad to see it and shared that the dog was a "Goldendoodle." In the video, a white car stopped in front of the house. The woman got out and let the dog out on the side of the street. She got back in and closed all the doors. The dog seemed to realize what was happening and started encircling the car. He jumped at the doors and the hood of the car, hoping to get back in. His efforts were futile, and the owner still drove past the spot, leaving the dog all alone.
The pastor decided to pick him up just shortly after that, according to the caption. Rescue teams had also gotten in touch with the man to see if they could help. Garcilazo had decided to check if the dog was still there after he saw the video. Once he found the Goldendoodle, he was determined to help, as reported by NBC Miami on Thursday, December 4, 2025. "He was very energetic, he was around the place, like running around in circles." The man decided to name the dog Leo for the time being and took him to a groomer. Leo's fur was really matted when the pastor found him. The groomer agreed that the dog was in a very bad condition, and she had never worked on a pet in such a poor state before.
The pastor went on, "The people who posted the video, when I got there, they told me that the person was crying a lot, that that’s not shown in the video... but I mean, at the end of the day, she left him just like that." He was hoping to keep the dog with him and give him a home. He was also going to check if the dog had been chipped. Many people reached out to the man to see if he needed any help with the dog. On the other hand, the Sweetwater police department was looking into the case to understand why the woman made such a decision. "We are very happy with him. He is such a smart dog. We are going to give him all the love he deserves," the pastor told WPLG Local 10.
