Server patiently waited for a customer to pay, thinking Apple Pay wasn’t working — until she saw his screen and couldn’t believe what he was doing
Servers often encounter customers of different kinds. While some make their day, others do not fail to ruin it. A TikTok user named Gemma, who also goes by @gemma.moro, thought she was serving two diners who appeared to be kind and decent. However, when it was time for the payment, she had to wait for an unusually long period. She assumed that the man had trouble with his Apple Pay until she realized what was actually happening. On June 28, 2026, the waitress revealed how the truth left her enraged.
Gemma was serving two customers at the restaurant, who seemed very cooperative until it was time for the payment. She pulled out her tablet and read the total to one of the men. When he took out his phone, she assumed he was going to make the payment through Apple Pay. However, minutes passed by, and he was still engrossed in the device. At first, she thought it was a technical issue, but the wait started to feel weird. She needed to attend to other guests and asked if he needed more time. That's when he assured her he was done, put his phone down, and pulled out his card to make the payment. The woman realized he was actually scrolling on Facebook all this time.
"They flagged me down and told me they were ready to pay. Mind you, this wasn't me forcing them out of the restaurant," she noted. Furious, she mentioned how wasting her time for fun was unacceptable. "What's so important on Facebook, sir, that you're holding me up from doing my job and providing other people with fast service?" she lamented. Her video received support from many online users. @Luna wrote, "My mindset is always: You guys run on my time, not on yours, you can wait all evening, but I will not run to you the second you feel like you're done." @o.l.i.v.i.a_mc1nney_ wrote, "Why are people still rude to servers? They are literally the nicest people ever." @emmy_7531 remarked, "I'm sorry this happened; that had to be awkward."
Some customers think their time is more important than the servers', who have multiple tables to attend to. In another story, a customer entered a fast-food joint and cut in line, demanding service. She wanted the waitress to show her son what was available on the menu. However, when the worker turned toward the stroller, she was shocked to see an infant who was hardly a few days old. The mom then continued to act entitled, making the entire experience bitter. Recalling the encounter, the employee noted that the woman was hands down the worst customer she had ever interacted with.
