About Author

Chokita writes and edits with a fascination for the people, places, and cultural moments that shape how we see ourselves and one another. She has interviewed independent artists, musicians, filmmakers, and stand-up comedians, while covering art, fashion, food, relationships, and popular culture through the lens of identity, memory, and belonging. Equally inspired by arthouse cinema and Hollywood classics, she believes the best stories are often found in the details others overlook. When she isn't writing, she can be found with a non-fiction graphic novel in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, or browsing wildlife and art magazines, wandering through museums, or escaping into the layered guitars and introspective lyrics of alternative rock.

Area of Interest

On some days, she's revisiting a Quentin Tarantino film; on others, she's reading about food anthropology or reading about the meticulous craftsmanship that defines Hermès. She keeps a close eye on Matthieu Blazy's evolving design language in fashion and rarely says no to Daft Punk on a long walk.

Education

She holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrated Journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai.

Previous Experiences

For the past five years, Chokita has been finding different ways to tell stories. She started out in lifestyle journalism with She The People, The New Indian Express (Indulge), and Deccan Chronicle, writing about culture, art, fashion, food, entertainment, and the fascinating people behind them. She also spent time as a copywriter in advertising for clients across real estate, education, and healthcare. The medium may have changed, but her approach never did. She's always drawn to stories that make people pause, smile, see something familiar in a new light, or remind them that the everyday is often more interesting than how it appears.
