The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Take this toddler, for instance. When a new mom (@followingsunshine) asked her daughter what she wanted to eat for breakfast, the little girl immediately responded with an answer that left her not only stunned but also realized that she was indeed raising a 'mini me.' Sharing the adorably hilarious video on her account, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the TikTok parent's video has left online users both awestruck and in splits.

The mother took to TikTok to share an adorable video of her toddler in the morning, who is being asked by her mother what she wanted for breakfast. Without skipping a beat, the young child says "Starbucks" in the most gibberish way possible. The mother, who decodes her baby's answer, inquires if she really meant Starbucks, to which her toddler confirms that she did. Unable to contain her laughter, the mother filmed her toddler, insisting again that she wanted Starbucks for breakfast. Sharing the funny video, the mother captioned the video, "When you realize you're raising a mini me."

In a 2023 study published in Science Daily, researchers analyzed interactions between a mother and a child over several months, with the baby being 6 months old when the experiment began, and by the time it ended, she was 18 months old. The study revealed that the more the toddler engaged with her mother, the more she began copying her mother's actions. Interestingly, the ability to imitate only grew stronger as she turned 18 months old. Professor Markus Paulus, who led the study, said, "Children are incredible imitators. Mimicry paves the way to their further development. Imitation is the start of the cultural process toward becoming human." The kid may have observed her mother saying "Starbucks" and relying on the coffee shop more often, imprinting the word in her mind.

Incidents like this show how kids often become little reflections of their parents, copying everything they see and hear. In another story, a 5-year-old boy from North Carolina imitates his basketball coach dad’s every move and mannerism. Preschooler Christopher Bess, who is known affectionately as Coach B, accompanies his father frequently to the basketball court and imitates him. This also highlights his passion for basketball, which he received from watching his father coach the team. He even gives pep talks like his father. It beautifully encapsulates how kids absorb everything from their parents.

Just like Coach B's story, this TikTok video struck a chord with fellow parents who shared their personal stories in the comment section@constancescalese wrote, "She's so adorable! Starbucks marketing should pay you for her endorsement." @lotustea09 recounted, "My sister and I asked my 3-year-old niece where we should go on Saturday, and she yelled 'Costco!'" @spoonlessmomma mentioned, "One time my husband said he was going to get me coffee and my youngest looked at him & said, 'cake pop, hink (pink) one.' The fact that she knew a trip to get coffee meant a cake pop."
