She complained about a coworker stealing her lunch to the supervisor — but ended up getting written up by HR
For any workplace mishap, you expect HR to be the most dependable person to rely on when things go wrong. But TikTok creator BreSheisty learned that wasn't always the case after a coworker ate her homemade lunch, complained about her to HR, and somehow left her as the one facing consequences. She shared the story as @bresheisty2 on September 6, 2026, explaining what started as a missing box of Alfredo turned into a workplace drama she didn't see coming.
Bre explained that she brings her own lunch to work. One day, she brought leftover chicken Alfredo she had made from scratch with other items packed in a container with her name on it and left it in the community refrigerator. But when she went to get her lunch, the container was gone. She soon spotted a coworker, whom she called "Penelope," eating her Alfredo. When Bre asked where she got it, the coworker claimed, "I brought it from my home," even though she was eating it from Bre's container with her name on it. She then added, "You shouldn’t leave things in the community refrigerator if you didn’t want to share them." It got worse when the coworker later reported her to HR, claiming Bre had made her feel "food insecure" and created a "hostile work environment," and HR ended up writing Bre up.
The individual explained that she usually brings her own lunch box because she doesn't want to spend $20 on a meal. She was excited to eat her chicken Alfredo with homemade garlic bread, but things took a bizarre turn. Bre even brought the issue to her supervisor, who had an even more surprising response. Her supervisor said, "Maybe next time y'all can communicate better. Practice communication skills." Her comments caught the woman off guard, and she jokingly said, "What do you want me to do, send out an email to everybody to let them know not to touch other people's stuff that has none of their names on it?"
Bre recalled sitting in the office after being written up, still trying to process how the situation had turned against her. From the corner of her eye, she could see "Penelope" finishing the very same garlic bread that had come with her Alfredo. But then the coworker had the nerve to ask if she was bringing more Alfredo the next day. Bre couldn't believe it. She agreed and jokingly mentioned adding laxatives to it.
The story sparked plenty of reactions, with many siding with Bre and questioning how HR handled the situation. @kimnationnn wrote, “No, because at Amazon if you eat somebody’s lunch, they will fire you.” Another viewer, @weirdplusbeautyheyyy, joked, "next lunch is a laxative." And @luvmygar summed up the frustration many viewers seemed to share, writing, "Wow, coming from HR, this was handled wrong!"
Getting your lunch stolen is frustrating, but it makes things worse when even your confrontation does not help. In another stolen lunch story, an employee dealt with exactly that after a coworker repeatedly stole their lunches for months. When they finally caught her, the coworker's excuse was so casual that it left them speechless. She said they were a "really good cook" and should "take it as a compliment." Similar to Bre, their months of missing food did not come with a convincing justification.
