She was alone at home when she heard a sneeze, was baffled after taking a closer look at her Christmas tree
A Christmas tree is many people's must-have as a decoration at their houses during the Christmas season. It looks gorgeous but it can also become a hiding spot for unwelcomed guests, as was the case with a woman who was stunned by what she found in her Christmas tree. The woman, Bret (@brettbrat359 on TikTok), was alone at her house when she heard a sneeze. When she went to get a closer look at her Christmas tree, she found something surprising on it.
The woman showed her decorated Christmas tree to people. However, once she zoomed in, one could see what she was actually trying to show. A giant possum was hiding behind the branches of the tree. "I am literally freaking out right now. I have no idea how this possum got in my house and up in my tree," Brett began. "I am trying to get him out, but it will not let me. I just don't know what to do. I don't know how it got in here." She went on, "I don't leave my doors open. Somebody help!" The video received more than 6.8 million views and over 646,000 likes. Many people took to the comments section to share their thoughts on Brett's situation.
@neneyasir wrote, "Imagine sitting on the couch and you look over and a possum is in your Christmas tree staring at you." @kcoil commented, "I was admiring your tree and the possum scared me before you even said it was there." @sony3100 remarked, "So far, I’ve seen a squirrel, owl, praying mantis and now a possum in fresh trees (videos)." @wren449 shared, "I definitely thought you were talking about the random Santa ornament on a black and white tree." @phylis709 expressed, "I need to go buy a Christmas tree so I can see what critter I get in my tree. I live in Arizona. It's probably a diamondback rattlesnake, though."
In another update, the woman shared the details of what exactly happened on that fateful Christmas day. Brett had just gotten off from work and was sitting on her couch, working on her computer, when she heard a sneeze. "I looked over. I have three dogs and a cat. I thought one of them was there; they weren't." The woman simply brushed it off and continued working. "Then I heard it again, but a little louder, with some other noises." She then got up to check if her cat was stuck somewhere. The woman kept looking and saw a long rat tail. "I look up and see this giant, gray, breathing ball of fur. Brett immediately called her boyfriend, who told her where the rubber gloves were kept in case she needed them to get the possum out of the tree.
The woman had a tough time trying to get the possum out of the tree as the animal refused to let go of it. It then fell on the floor by accident and kept running around until Brett was finally able to catch him. "I thought they were slow animals, but that was a misconception," she recounted. "I even gave up for a little bit on that and thought I should calm down." The woman added, "He was not mean, he was not aggressive. I did call animal control just to be safe, but they didn't come after hours, it is a small town." The woman, who described herself as "an animal lover with three dogs, a cat, two snakes and a beardo dragon" concluded by saying that she would have kept the possum had it not been smelling "so horrid."
