She went to Home Depot hoping to find a potential partner in old-fashioned way- to her surprise, she found one
Single folks nowadays are mostly done dealing with dating apps which hardly help them find a genuine partner for a serious relationship. And a new trend has emerged, where people look for love in public places. Take Katelyn Ansari for example. The woman, who goes by @katelynnansari on TikTok, uploaded a video that gave hope to women seeking love outside dating apps and social media. In her first video, Ansari wrote that she went out to The Home Depot after taking advice from some ladies and tried to find herself a "blue-collar man because dating apps suck."
Luckily, she spotted a guy she found cute while peeking around the hardware racks of Home Depot. Ansari gathered some courage to speak to the man and asked for his advice on how to hang a big picture at her home. The man offered to help as he handed her a hook and some strings. But in reality, Ansari just needed a topic to spark a conversation with him and she didn't have a painting to hang at home. However, the duo ended up exchanging numbers and started texting soon after.
That led Ansari and the man, whose name was Tryce Easter, to land their first date. She made another video where he asked her followers to pick her outfit for the date. Ansari's fairytale love story gained enough popularity online. In an interview with PEOPLE, Ansari revealed that her first date was months ago and she had been holding up all the videos to post them at the right time. As of now, Ansari and Easter are officially a couple. “I had tucked these videos away in my drafts because I'm a pretty private person these days and I wanted to make sure he was the man he claimed to be before I publicly shared our story,” she told the outlet.
Ansari expected Easter to bring flowers on the first date so she could determine if he was "the one" or not. Sure enough, Easter showed up in a cowboy hat and had a bouquet for his lady love. “It felt like a modern-day fairytale. He’s made me start believing in love and romance again," Ansari gushed, adding that she had been single for two years and was casually dating before meeting Easter. Ansari experienced a lot of disappointments while using dating apps and even had a heartbreaking experience. Then she swore off those apps and made up her mind to find herself a man in the old-fashioned way.
“I had dated one guy I met online that, come to find out, was also dating several other girls,” Ansari recounts. “It wrecked me, I am such a relationship girlie and was completely blindsided by his actions." Then she came across several pieces of dating advice on the internet from women who were joking about visiting hardware stores to find a "hardworking" man they could date. Fortunately, everything worked in Ansari's favor and she found a genuine connection with Easter. “I've lived a majority of my adult life sharing my journey through social media but never to this capacity,” she admitted. “I had my little community and that was it. My anxiety has been through the roof if I'm being completely honest because I never expected our story to go viral.”
The TikTok comments section was swooning over this couple and many of them left well-wishes for Easter and Ansari. @waterdogpools wrote, "Pro tip here. Stick to the plumbing and electrical sections. Blue collar + high-paying trades. Painters and sheet rockers are gonna be your lower-paid, high-beer consumers." @moody_boodee_ joked, "Girl, I just called a local plumber and doing my homework I found out one was single and one year later, we are planning a wedding." @bigoldstupidchris joked, "He handed you a ceiling hook for plants to hang a picture with?!"
