Sometimes, even the smallest of moments can go on to become the most cherished times of one's life. The story of this daughter and her mother's special moment is a splendid example of it. Amy Astrauskas was known to her friends as the "hostess with the mostest," a nickname that she earned for being the person who always invited her friends over for a party, revealed her 28-year-old daughter Emily Elizabeth Creighton, as per TODAY. Astrauskas was popular for planning all of her family events, including holidays and weddings. Therefore, when Creighton learned about her mom's dying wish, she decided to take her to wedding dress shopping even though she was single.

The mom also played along. "She lied and said I was getting married," Creighton said in her Instagram video, with a feeble laugh. At the time, Astrauskas was battling stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer and her health was only deteriorating. She knew that it wouldn't be long before she had to bid goodbye to the world, which also meant that she wouldn't be able to walk her daughter down the aisle.

On Instagram, Creighton, an actor in New York City, shared footage from the joyful try-on session, in which she recalled going to Free Love Bridal in Cape May, New Jersey. She talked about how the consultants popped champagne and asked a million questions about her “non-existent” fiancé.

"Honestly, one of the funniest and saddest moments of my life," Creighton expressed in the reel. “But now, even though she’s gone, I get to say she helped me to pick out my wedding dress." She talked about her gown which she described as a "classic" design with pockets and buttons all the way down the back. Many took to her Instagram post to talk about how heartwarming the gesture was, "That is amazing that she helped you pick out your wedding dress. I bet it means even more, knowing she was a part of it," read one comment while another user wrote, "This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us."

The daughter revealed that Astrauskas was beyond excited while picking up the dress for her. "As soon as I put it on, we were like, ‘Yup, this is it,'” Creighton recalled in the clip. “My dad, you can see him in the video, he’s like asleep on the couch. He had no interest. But my mom was just in her glory."

The daughter gladly tried the dress for her mom but the duo couldn't buy it because of the price. Creighton recalled her mother asking her to go and get the dress in her last moments. "On her deathbed, she was like, 'I think you should go buy the dress. I think you should have it,'" Creighton shared. She added that the dress was on hold at the store and she would buy it after meeting her special someone. She also shared how she would have everything at her wedding, just how her mom had wanted, from the pink peonies to a “fabulous” live band at the reception.

Creighton has revealed that the only thing different from what her mom had thought would be that there would be no man at the end of the aisle. "The only thing that has changed is, my mom thought the person at the end of the aisle would be a man!" she told TODAY, explaining that she came out as gay back in 2022. "But she was the most accepting and loving person — she would have been totally fine with it. All my mom ever wanted was for me to be happy," Creighton emotionally added.
