Stepdad was crushed when he couldn't get his daughter ice cream — the store staff watched it on CCTV and gave them a call
Parents go above and beyond to fulfill even the littlest wishes of their children. A stepdad was as excited as his daughter to take her to Lorelei Infusions on an ice-cream date. Unfortunately, the shop had already shut for the day. While the little girl was disappointed, the man was even more heartbroken that he wasn't able to get her the treat she had been looking forward to. Sharing on their Facebook page on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the staff saw the CCTV footage and were moved. They decided to find the strangers and reach out to them with a special surprise.
The family was late by 20 minutes, and their excitement quickly faded when they saw the shop shut. As per the CCTV visuals, the man sighed and said, "I'm sorry, baby." While the little girl was initially upset, she immediately cheered up, ready to go home. She even requested him to skip on his way back with her. When the staff at the ice cream shop noticed this, they found it incredibly adorable. "His daughter handled it with the sweetest little attitude. No meltdown. No pouting. Just pure joy to be with her daddy," they said in a post. The team wanted to know more and requested people on the internet to identify the person. That's when they learned the sweetest truth. The kid, Charlie, had asked her stepdad, Sean, "permission to call him dad" for the first time the night before. What they captured was one of the first moments she addressed him with that title.
In an update, the staff noted that they had to celebrate the moment and invited the family to the store. "We treated them to flights of ice cream, t-shirts, and pints to take home for later in the week," their post read. They also shared adorable pictures, delighted to be a part of their big milestone in a little way. They even watched the duo skip out of the store with their hands and hearts full.
Their posts left online users in tears. Many praised Sean for being the best dad the little girl could ask for. @Nicole Moody commented, "See, this is why I love to support and go to our local businesses such as here! I think what you all did is absolutely amazing! Not only do you all make some phenomenal coffee and ice cream, but you also make the customers feel special." @Brittany Strout shared, "My heart is full." @Kristine Darling Schmelter wrote, "Humanity at its best."
