Ultrasound tech celebrated a woman’s unexpected pregnancy as ‘so exciting’ — until her partner’s response raised a serious 'red flag'
An ultrasound appointment revealed a red flag in the room, as shared by a medical professional in a story that stayed with her long after it ended. The experience involved an unexpected pregnancy that was first met with warmth and excitement, but a subtle reaction from her partner changed the feeling entirely. The story was shared by ultrasound technician Natalie (@natalieavni) in a TikTok video posted on December 30, 2025, where she spoke about how a joyful discovery slowly raised concern without anyone openly addressing it. She expressed unease about the patient’s partner, noting that his reaction immediately stood out to her as extremely problematic.
Natalie explained that she was scanning a patient who had just learned she was pregnant. Speaking directly to the camera, she talked about the incident, “I’m scanning a patient, and she’s newly pregnant, so I see that her ovaries are very plump with follicles; it looks kind of like she took medicine to ovulate.” Because the woman was new, Natalie tried to understand more about her situation. She asked, “By any chance, did you take any medicine to ovulate?” The patient answered without hesitation, saying, “No, this happened on our own; we were barely trying.” Natalie reacted naturally and with joy and said, “Oh my God, how exciting.”
The mood shifted when the woman’s partner responded. Natalie recalled, “Her partner over here, word for word and the same tone, ‘yeah, how exciting.’” The words matched hers, but the feeling did not. Natalie said she immediately noticed the woman’s reaction. “The reason why I know that this was not fake or a joke is because her face turned literally red,” she explained. The woman, clearly embarrassed, was unable to hide her discomfort. Wanting to support her, Natalie added, “I said to her, 'I am so happy for you. For you,'” clearly putting emphasis on the woman rather than the situation as a whole.

Natalie later added her own thoughts in the caption, writing, “The biggest red flag and wish I could say so much more because she doesn’t deserve that.” Since being posted, the video has reached 1.6 million views and led to mixed reactions in the comments. Many viewers expressed concern for the woman and praised Natalie for noticing the emotional shift. Others debated the meaning of the partner’s response. @lifestyle_lorraine shared her personal experience, "Going into my C-section, the nurse told my husband to give me a kiss before the surgery. He said, 'I’m good.' I started the divorce process two weeks postpartum." @she.be.nancyy expressed, "It's so sad not every pregnant woman gets a loving, supporting husband." @dawson_sam recounted, "That breaks my heart, my husband was so excited and glued to the screen while I was getting scanned." @mrsmillicans wrote, "Well... if he didn’t want a baby with her, I wouldn’t be trying for a baby with someone who doesn’t want one with me."
