Woman asked wedding guests to share ‘unhinged’ experiences—these 10 have us in a chokehold

When it comes to a person's wedding day, there is a lot of planning and dreams that make up the celebration. Families are attentive to even the littlest details to ensure nothing goes wrong. Right from the material of the drapes to the type of confetti to be thrown, even the minuscule things are accounted for and decided after much consideration. Nevertheless, some weddings just go with the flow — in the most unexpected manner. Often, these experiments don't work out and guests are left with a bitter experience that they carry for a long time.

A woman named Maddie Ritcher (@queenritcher) wanted to steer clear of these errors on her wedding day and so she turned to the internet to ask their opinions, TODAY reported. She asked people to share their "worst experience" as wedding guests that made the event a "bad wedding." Requesting people to share the most "unhinged" memories they hold, Ritcher realized a lot can go wrong on the special occasion and as a bride, took notes. “It made me realize a lot of people have had bad experiences at weddings, so mine can’t go that wrong ... knock on wood!" she remarked. These 10 instances shared by guests are truly something out of this world.
1. Self-service on another level
"I had to go to the kitchen and find the vegan sausages that were supposed to be in my meal and cook them myself. No sides either." -@jessdrawhorn

2. Black tie gone wrong
"Back tie wedding that was not a black tie experience — no food, no alcohol. It was a Sunday morning wedding that lasted 2 hours, consisting of a ceremony and a light cake. And the bride thought black tie meant men in suits with black ties." - @magmagius0

3. Fake it till you make it
"The bride made up the groom! There was no man and she had this made-up life for years. She's getting help now. No one showed up except the bride and her guests. She never walked down the aisle; her dad had to come and break the news that there was no groom." -@abbiemae107

4. You're (not) invited
"We got to the church only to realise we weren't invited to the reception. Our invite just mentioned refreshments in the hall. Realised in the pew when the people beside us asked what food we had ordered. Eh, none?" - @mrstherogue

5. MIL-zilla?
"My friend's MIL said in her speech, 'You may be his wife, but I'm his mother and you'll never have him to yourself.' I was sitting right infront of the stand so I death stared the MIL the rest of the night. She also made the bride cry at the end of the night cause she was hammered. My own mother was gonna fight this woman." - @urdadzfavoritegirl
6. Speech galore
"Seven speeches at the wedding. By speech two, no one was listening and everyone was talking over them. Diabolical." -@elyse.t.b "I went to a wedding where each of the nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen gave a speech along with the mother of the bride and groom. It was one hour 45 minutes of speech." - @lilcatsinlilhats
7. Selective hospitality
"Went to my boyfriend's at the time bestfriend's wedding. They seated 20 of the college friends (us) in a separate room and told us we needed to pay to eat or wait until everyone had seconds until we could go and get food. " - @imcatherinemarie

8. Copy that
"We had our wedding few months prior and went to my husband's friend's wedding. They copied everything we did past the point of flattery. Same colors, location, details, table setting, cetnerpieces, all of it. We left early and were so upset." -@nicoleheinz51
9. Unrealistically disappointing
"The wedding had only alcohol for the guests, no water and I don't drink. When I asked if there was something else for me, they said no. The bride also doesn't drink and they had a lot of pepsi but they said that's only for her." -@lollo940

10. Is this a wedding?
"I was invited to a 'wedding' where the real wedding had already happened before we got there with the immediate family. We arrived at the bar which was closed for the wedding. About 50 people waited for 30 minutes outside. We were finally let in and there was a table for gifts and leftover food in a tupperware from the actual wedding, that's it. They basically just wanted gifts." -@alikatknits
