Woman doubted herself as a role model to her little brother—but his priceless gesture for a stranger gave her the answer

As parents, siblings and adults, it can often be scary to ponder whether we’re raising children well and doing the right things. To help kids become the best version of themselves is one of the major goals as role models. It can get tough to believe that we’re going in the right direction. A woman, who goes by @murphh_ on TikTok, revealed that she, too, was having these doubts playing in her head. With her little brother having the capacity to learn so much from her, she wondered if she was doing enough to raise him to be a gentle and kind human being. His humble request for a stranger gave her the answer immediately.

The woman mentioned in her caption that trying to imbibe good traits by “changing his lifestyle” has been tough. As any other older sibling or role model, she was trying her best to inspire and impart the best values and morals but it is often a wonder whether it is really being inculcated by the little ones or not. As these thoughts drifted in her mind, they were abruptly stopped with a beautiful assurance. The duo was in the car as she was driving when the little boy spotted something on the sidewalk. He immediately asked his sister to pull over and got out of the car on his own. On the edge of the sidewalk was an elderly stranger.

The man was in a wheelchair and was visibly struggling to get up on the sidewalk. The little gentleman approached him and, in an inaudible conversation, asked him, perhaps, if he could offer help. The elderly man nodded, soon after which the boy ran behind his wheelchair, grabbed it and began maneuvering it. Once he got a hold of it properly, he was able to gently push it up on the sidewalk and again turn it in the direction the man wanted to go. While he was struggling with his little hands and feet, he didn’t give up and persistently listened to the elderly man’s guidance to move the wheelchair up.

When he was done, he left the man and ran back like he had done something casual. The senior waved at him, grateful for his thoughtful assistance. “Stressing out about if I’m doing a good job stepping up and he heals a part of me,” the sister wrote in the text overlay. For him to notice something wrong and want to take action on his own by going out of his way left many stunned. It had to mean there was something right about the way he was being raised. The fact that he was so “understanding” spoke volumes in reassuring the sister and clearing her doubts.

People were also touched by his act. While many wondered whether the woman was his sister or mum, all had words of encouragement to share. @sweeeeeeeet05 said, “I think that’s her brother but regardless, it’s hard to come by kids like this nowadays. You’re doing a great job, keep setting that example.” @d.strategist added, “Watching him struggle with that wheelchair, he helped with his whole heart.” @xdesteny.ritchieex remarked, “Oh, you’re doing beyond great.”
@murphh_ It was the asking his permission first for me🙁 trying to change his lifestyle hasn’t been easy but I love to see he’s understanding 🥺#fyp#viral#caring ♬ original sound - lex⸆⸉
