Sammy had been dropping her grandma off when she decided it was finally time to tell her. As they chatted in the car, she confessed to her grandma that she had been meaning to talk to her and said she might have already heard about it from family or seen something on social media, but she wanted to tell her herself. "I’ve been dating girls," Sammy said, clearly nervous about how the news would land. However, her grandma had the best response. She admitted she was surprised, but quickly made it clear that it didn’t change anything for her. She reassured Sammy, saying, "That don’t mean nothing to me. Absolutely don’t. You’re still my Sammy." She gave her a little peck on the forehead and comforted her, reminding her that she loved her no matter what.
