Woman gets pulled aside after TSA detects possible double explosives in her bag — what showed up on the scanner had the officer laughing
Getting stopped by TSA is always stressful and a little tiring, too. But finding out your bag has been flagged for possible explosives would make anyone nervous. Instagram creator Amy L Beaver was going through airport security when her bag was pulled aside for extra screening after something inside it caught the agent's attention. She shared the experience on Instagram under the handle @yesitsmethehappybeaver on August 10, 2026, and what the TSA agent discovered inside her bag had both of them laughing.
Beaver said she was traveling with TSA PreCheck, so she was used to getting through security without removing her shoes or dealing with much extra screening. But this time, her bag was sent onto a separate conveyor belt while they waited for a TSA agent to take a closer look. When he asked, "Ma’am, do you have anything flammable in your bag?" she said she didn't think so, aside from "a little can of Lysol." The officer gave her a slightly doubtful look, but when he ran the bag through a special scanner, he suddenly started laughing after spotting the culprit. There were two Buc-ee's treats in Beaver's bag that apparently looked like explosives on the scanner.
Beaver said she had no idea the treats could look suspicious on an airport scanner. Once the agent realized what had triggered the alert, both of them shared a laugh, and Beaver admitted she felt relieved because she had been wondering what was actually inside her bag that could have caused the problem. The experience also left her with a warning for other travelers. She said anything shiny, such as gold or silver, could potentially draw extra attention during screening, adding, "The sweet treat is going to get you every time." She joked in the caption of her video, writing, "The only explosive I have is the diarrhea I’m going to get from these sweet treats."
Her story also prompted other travelers to share their own strange TSA experiences. @thevoidanswers wrote, "My tarot cards got flagged once they said ‘oh this happens all the time.’" @just_on_par shared, "I got flagged for packing two dozen frozen tamales; I deserved it." @nikkiigarcia82 joked, "You no longer have to take off shoes in the peasant line either!"
Airport security can sometimes flag the most harmless items when they look unusual on a scanner. Not long ago, an Instagram creator, Ryann “Ry” Mason, packed a ceramic cast of a human foot from a fourth-grade school project in her suitcase. The TSA officers at Virginia's Roanoke Airport stopped the bag and investigated. The cast looked so much like a real human foot on the scanner that the checkpoint was reportedly shut down for about 20 minutes before officers cleared her to continue.
