Woman told upstairs neighbor watching Super Bowl recaps to 'turn it down' at 12:30 am—his 'classy reply' left her impressed

Knocking on her neighbor's door at midnight was the last thing a woman, who goes by u/operarose on Reddit, wanted. But the loud TV noises from his apartment upstairs made it nearly impossible for her to sleep peacefully. When she was left with no other option, she decided to inform the neighbor about the inconvenience caused by his loud TV and the response she got was definitely not the one she was expecting.

“I had to get out of bed and go ask the upstairs neighbor to turn it down at about 12:30 am this morning,” she mentioned. She added that she had never seen the neighbor in her life before. Nevertheless, she decided to speak to him about the issue she was facing. The woman mentioned in a comment that she didn't speak to the neighbor face-to-face and only asked him to lower the volume of his TV through his door's ring camera. Instead of giving her a tough time or getting sour about the request, the neighbor gladly complied. That wasn't all. The man and his wife even made up for it with a handwritten note they left on her door and the woman was beyond delighted to wake up to the surprise. The letter began with a greeting and apology for the previous night’s noises. “I’m sorry for not being considerate about the volume,” the note read.

The neighbor further explained that they were watching Super Bowl recaps and that's why, they got excited and turned up the volume too much. “I got too carried away with watching recaps from the Super Bowl and I didn't realize how loud my TV was.” Additionally, the man and his wife decided to use this unusual and awkward conversation to turn the bond into something vibrant. They wrote, “In positive news, the cookies you made for Christmas were amazing!” What left the woman surprised was the concluding message that read, “Please allow me to return the favor,” along with their apartment number for further contact. The note was attached to a bottle of wine which the woman mentioned was "good." She said, “It's good wine! Never had this brand before, but I definitely recommend it.”

People were highly impressed with the genuineness of the conversation from both ends. u/One-little-pig wrote, “Congratulations to both of you for spontaneously demonstrating how to be an adult. This is how all interactions should be, with each taking responsibility and no one getting butt-hurt that they were having their rights curtailed.” u/DsBabe96 remarked, “Awesome! And a classy reply!”

u/luckluckbear added, “So good to know that there are still decent people out there.” u/Exciting_Bid_609 shared, “More of this is needed in the world. We need to hear more positive exchange.” u/bradinspokane commented, “Wouldn't it be great if everyone was more like this?” u/anonlgf remarked, “I miss civilized society, I didn't realize people were still this considerate these days.”
