Couple was confused to receive their own wedding invite in mail — a note and $20 served the most beautiful explanation

The pre-wedding phase tends to get chaotic and often there are errors, shenanigans and bizarre moments that make up the authenticity of the experience. When Cassie Warren and Jesse Jones were planning to tie the knot in 2018, a mistake resulted in something sweet, ABC News reported. The couple had been sending out wedding invites, and a few days later, they were shocked to see one of their invites right back in their mail. However, along with it was a $20 bill and a note that revealed an adorable reason.

Sending out invites to 200 wedding guests, the duo were in their full element while writing out names and sealing the envelopes. According to KOIN, the invite featured the bride and groom in Star Wars shirts with a light saber, making it a very thematic announcement. When it was all done, a few days later, the duo received their wedding invite right back in the mail. At first, they were shocked. Though confusing, the invite could not have come at a better time, The Washington Post revealed. Warren was reportedly “mid meltdown." She had been complaining to Jones when she got her hands on this strange envelope — it turned out to make everything better.

“I was at first annoyed that Jesse was so worried about opening mail and not focused on the conversation we were in the middle of, but after he opened it and saw the note, I was just grateful and felt so blessed,” Cassie recalled. The duo sat down and opened the invite. When they found a $20 bill with it, they were all the more confused. On the outside of the envelope, it said, ‘Live long and prosper,'” Warren recalled, in connection to their theme and love for Star Wars. The front quickly gave away why it landed up in their mail.

Turns out, the invite intended to reach a relative in Oregon had the wrong, previous home address and ended up in the hands of a stranger. Since the person had no idea who it was, she only felt fit to return the invite so it would reach the intended recipient. However, she did so with a sweet gesture. "I wish I knew you, this is going to be a blast," the stranger wrote. The message continued to explain the $20 inside, "Congratulations, go have dinner on me,” it said. Furthermore, the person gave them the best remark ahead of their big day. “I've been married for 40 years — it gets better with age," she said.

The couple was touched and delighted by reading the note and soaking in the love. “After I saw the note, I was just surprised and blessed that she would do that for a stranger," Warren explained. The couple respected the sender’s wishes and used the money to have a nice dinner outside. In return, Warren also decided to get a thank-you card and actually appreciate the stranger. “I thought she should know her act of kindness was appreciated. Not many people would do that for a stranger,” she remarked.
