Dad warned daughters they wouldn’t get treats if they didn’t go to bed—his 5-year-old’s response has the internet cackling

Many of us might recall our parents or adults telling us to listen and obey, or there would be consequences. The ideal method was used as a simple strategy with bribes like chocolates, toys, games, outings, and so on. As kids, we most likely agreed and gave in to the technique. However, Joe and Carey Teague’s 5-year-old daughter, Remi, had other plans, Newsweek stated. When the dad was trying to tuck his kids in, he let them know that if they refused to go to sleep, he’d take away their treats. While he was trying to be serious, little Remi had a well-thought-out response that caught the parents off guard and left the internet chuckling.

The Teagues are parents to two girls, Raelyn, 8 years old, and little 5-year-old Remi, as well as a 2-year-old boy, Rogan. The mom noted that they usually get the kids to bed, followed by a little song and prayer, before they can sleep. However, lately, the 5-year-old has been plotting mischievous ways to stay awake way past her bedtime. "She has been coming up with every excuse in the book to get out of bed lately. She wants to party all night,” the mom remarked. In a video shared on TikTok, the camera captured the dad tucking his daughters in as he convinced them to sleep.

Remi can be seen in her bunk bed, sitting up as her dad tries to firmly tell her that she needs to respect her bedtime. "That's why we lie down and sing songs so that you go to sleep," he explained to his girl. He continued, "We don't sing songs for you to jump out of bed immediately.” Joe then confidently put a deal breaker. “I will take away treats like the cookies we just made, and then we're gonna stop doing stuff like cheerleading or anything like that if you don't start listening. So, lie down,” he said. The little girl took a second before responding right away, "Is that how we play, huh? We'll see about that, huh?"
@careyteague My husband had to turn around and walk out because he started laughing 😂 #bedtime #parentlife #dadlife #funny #thingskidssay ♬ original sound - Carey Teague
Her tone and confidence while making the statement, along with her slowly lying down in bed, was everything. Joe was caught off guard and went completely silent. He couldn’t control his laughter and quickly turned around and walked out without saying a word. “Then he came into the other room to tell me what she said,” the mom shared. She, too, found it unbelievable. "I told him there was no way she said that, so I got on our camera app to see if it caught it — and that's how I discovered the video,” she revealed.

The little girl’s confident sassiness, with its adorable factor, left the internet full of emotions and laughter. @simplyjessingaround joked, “I’m terrified for you at this point.” @kenishaquigs added, “I watched this and immediately went, ‘Oh, I bet she’s a secondborn.” @realonemorestep hysterically added, “As a parent, you did the right thing. As an avid horror movie watcher, you should go back and apologize.” @lulushell89 rightly remarked, “She’s an icon! But also good luck.”
@careyteague A little sweeter of a bedtime 🥹🤣 with a side of the ABC’s Yes I move out of the way and check to make sure the blue light on the camera is on. These are memories we get to keep forever and we are hyper aware of it recording now after the last video 😂
